A bit expensive than hostels in other cities, but given t is in Switzerland, probably the most expensive country in the world, the quality and service is definitely worth the price. One thing that bothered me is that in some rooms, you can not get wifi signal.

I stayed again at the Jugendherberge in Sept 2013. Super affordable, very clean, quiet surroundings. Three really simple rules, 1. bring your sheets down in the morning (way better than paying for sheets daily) 2. move your dirty dishes to clean up racks (not bad for a free breakfast!) and 3. Smoke only in the court yard (no different than the rest of the world).

You can't beat this deal in Zurich. You won't find any parties here. You won't be overwhelmed with tourists or beggars. You WILL get a great night sleep, a nice clean shower and square meal in the morning.

There are also all kinds of amenities you can purchase, such as snacks, drinks, a local brew, books even a few souvenirs - just like a hotel! Enjoy and keep in mind this is a Hostel, not a 4 star hotel...but if you are being honest, it is as good as any budget lodging in Zurich, only cleaner and friendlier.

Room Tip: Rooms are stark - think dorm room when you first arrive at college freshman year. But, you WILL sle...

Stayed there in July. This is cheap for Zurich, even if it seems expensive compared with anywhere else. The location is reasonably central. The building looks new and well maintained. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very clean throughout. They have luggage lockers near the reception, but they have to be emptied once a day (can't remember at what time). Once you are in your room, you get your own locker. Breakfast is O.K. (nice coffee). Easy to reach by tram and bus (the "Morgental" tram stop may be more useful than the two "Jugendherberge" bus stops, depending on where you're coming from). Easy to book in advance. I would definitely stay here again.

South of the city of Zurich, loads of roads run parallel close to the lake. But these are mostly very narrow one-way streets. It's a bit hit and miss because the hostel is not on the road going south but is actually on the road that goes back into the city, hence idea for anyone approaching from the south. Having located the hostel, there is a small car park off the street. The interior is sparkling clean and the staff could not do more to make me welcome. There are lifts to the upper floor and a good breakfast restaurant on the ground floor. For eating in the evening, there is an excellent pizza restaurant just opposite. I could easily have stayed here longer.

For a hostel, it is an ideal place to stay: clean, with plain, modern furnishings and within easy access of public transport (trams and buses). Communal ablutions are well kept. Breakfasts are satisfactory and after 10am free coffees stop and you have to start paying. You get issued with clean laundered bedding to makeup your own bed on arrival. There is a locker room to keep your valuables and luggage if you wish.

Jugendherberge Zurich is so far the best hostel I've stayed in. The building is not very appealing from the outside, but it's quite modern and clean on the inside. The rooms are also in great conditions, they are small, but well, its a hostel! Breakfast was very good actually, it had a wide variety of things and it all looked amazing! Personal was also very friendly, I was made sandwiches at any hour (because many restaurants close at 8 and I, being argentine, am not used to having dinner that early haha) and once I had some personal problems and one of the girls from the hostel came to me and asked me if everything was alright, so nice! haha. Its location is not the best but you'll be by the central station in 15 minutes if you take the tram. There's a supermarket and food take away about two or three blocks away from the hostel. I really enjoyed my stay there!

Great hostel, very clean, spacious rooms, friendly staff and awesome free breakfast. The area is really nice, close to the lake and the forest. Trams and buses to Zurich downtown are nearby. Only negative point.. there is no public kitchen, so there's no possibility to cook for yourself. The hostel serves food though. Good place to stay in Zurich.
