“High price, low quality”

The lockers were too small to fit our backpacks, so we had to live them in the room. The reception is not open 24h and you can't leave your bags there while waiting for the check in time. Moreover, sheets are not included (despite the high price you pay per night): welcome to Switzerland

I was here for a week in late November 2013, visiting Zurich and using it as a base to visit nearby cities such as Basel and Sankt Gallen.

What the hostel has to recommend it is that it's about 15 minutes' walk from the railway station, and pretty central to everything else as well (e.g. the historic and shopping centres of Zurich). It's also very warm in winter.

I booked late, so shared a dorm. It was basic: a bit cramped, but otherwise fine.

There are two Starbucks close by - one about 1 minute's walk, and another about 10 minute's walk - if you need another place to sit and use the internet. There's also a small supermarket about 5 minutes down the street (Migros express) and a bigger Coop supermarket about 15 minutes away, just opposite the railway station. Switzerland is so expensive I appreciated the ability to do some of my own cooking.

There seems to be a kitchen on each floor. These are tiny, and very basic. By tiny, I mean that there's room for 4 people max at the kitchen table. The kitchen facilities are basic - e.g. no microwave, a stove-top, but no oven, some very basic pots, pans and utensils.

There were three different staff on the front desk in my time there, all of whom were friendly and helpful.

Wireless is available in the reception, but doesn't extend to the kitchens or dorms. The reception (the only communal area) is also very small. I wonder what it would be like in summer, when lots of people are competing for the wireless.

On the other hand, as the sign in the reception says, why are you inside surfing the net, when you could be outside exploring the streets?

A fifteen minute walk from Zurich central train station the hostel is tucked away on a cosy side street a block back from the riverside buildings. The staff were friendly, helpful and the small lounge area makes for social times. Close to plenty of bars, restaurants and attractions. Information on free walking tours and pub crawls is available.

The downsides are breakfast is not included and there is an extra 3 Franc fee if you don't provide your own bedding. I look forward to staying here next time I am in Zurich.

It took me about 30 minutes to find this hostel, as I arrived at night at the main station. The staff was very helpful and kind. The common areas are a little small for the amount of guest that can be there on a single night using the wifi. Small rooms but good and comfy beds. No elevator, no breakfast. Around the hostel you can find a lot of restaurants and bars to have a drink. Can be noisy at night. On the back there is a plaza with restaurants if you don;t want to walk around a lot to have dinner. Near the hostel you can also find 2 supermarkets, which is very convenient if you are traveling on a budget.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a private room, choose one not too close to the common areas. At night is alw...

This was the most inexpensive accommodation for one person in Zurich, but still not cheap. It is very conveniently located close to the train station - an easy walk. Dormitory style - 6 beds per room. Lots of night life in the area which also means quite noisy at night.

Breakfast was not included. You need to bring your own sheets or sleeping bag liner.

This is typical backpackers' accommodation in the heart of Zurich. It is located on a lively street with lots of shops and restaurants in the heart of Zurich. This did mean that, on the Saturday night we stayed, there was a lot of noise outside our bedroom window. But nevertheless, the room was comfortable and the location was great for exploring the city - about 1 minute walk from the river and 10 minutes from Lindenhofplatz. Note that the reception is closed over lunch time, so you may have to wait should you arrive between certain hours.

Stayed here for 2 nights. It is quite expensive but I think all Zurich is expensive. Kitchen was good. Staff were good when they were there. Wifi not so good. Bathrooms good enough and rooms are small but good enough. Nothing too special here except location.

There are limited reception hours so if you go to the toilet at night bring your key or you will get locked out.
