This is one of the obligatory Thursday or Friday evening watering holes in the city. The atmosphere is very cool, the bar deco is outstanding (take a trip upstairs for a bird's-eye view of the place). The beer is cold, the riverside location is perfect, and summer or winter it's the kind of spot you find yourself always coming back to. Unfortunately, the service is very poor, rude and aggressive. Don't expect a smile or a joke from any of the staff. Good thing this is a place to get drunk with a bunch of friends, because you're surely not going to be able to get any good service around. Nevertheless, this is a recommended spot just because the crowd is just right: mature without being boring. Not an easy task in Zurich. Also, you'll get kicked out of the bar if a band is playing and you didn't pay to see them. Since it is usually not worth the money to hear any of their musicians play, best take it in stride, and if it happens to be winter, the Langstrasse isn't too much of a walk. Oh and don't bother with the insanely overpriced food. The sandwiches at the bar downstairs are OK if you've got hunger pangs.
