“Minimalist room with maximum comfort”
Reviewed May 20, 2014 via mobile

I stayed here for 2 nights with a friend. This hotel is quite near from the hauptbahnhof (main train station), about 500m. We just need to cross the street and the beautiful limmat river to reach it.
The hotel do not have a lobby as they made it a bar. They also open all the windows every afternoon so it became an open space bar for young adult to hang out. I think the bar was quite popular since it was full of people most of the time. The check in process was express since our friend in Frankfurt booked thru booking.com.
Apparently they name all the rooms with a public figure name. We got room of "Christian Schad" on the 3rd floor.
The door was quite difficult to open as it was made of metal but with key lock, not card.
The room is quite small even for asian like us. The bathroom was even smaller but surprisingly has a sitting sized bathtub. The amenities was nicely wrapped with tiny recycle boxes.
The feeling was getting warmer for this room after we look outside from the window. It was facing the gorgeous view of the river, old buildings, bridge and the street. Awesome 24 hours view!!
It was the beginning of spring so it was still very cold for us to walk around the city. We only went out to buy food at the nearest Coop supermarket, half way to the train station and then went back to the room. The tv and bed was big and comfy we did everything on it from eating, chatting, checking emails with the free wifi and of course to have a long good night sleep.
The breakfast was also the highlight of the stay. They have colorful eggs and the best croissants!! If you have lots of space on your handbag, better make huge room for some extra croissants to eat while going out to explore the pretty city..you'll be glad you do it ^_^

I almost didn't want to share this experience but this place is just too good to be true. Found this Hotel on Google Maps, as i wanted to stay on Limmatquai, just minutes walk from Zurich Main Station and close to a lot of cafes, bars, restaurants. Room was spacious and we had the river view, its was sunny so we spent more time outside. Luxurious amenities were provided and a nice touch of nighty night sweets. Nice modern decor with quirky designs made this room special. Bed quality is close to any 5 star hotel, a firm mattress with firm pillows and quality duvets.

Through the double glazed windows, you can hear a faint rumbling of the trams running but unlike Paris, where the dining noise of people talking and eating goes on till wee hours of the morning just didn't exist as most cafes/ bars on the street closes at 10pm by law i assume.

The bar downstairs is transformed into a secret classy dinning area for breakfast by hardworking chef, complete with tablecloths and sliver cutlery. Continental breakfast of quality cheeses, cereals, croissants might seem simple but substantial to start the day. The experience was understated delight where history meets modern deco. I always like staying in boutique hotels that differs from your Hilton or Marriott experience.

I've stayed here several times. It's my go to place in Zurich.

It's centrally located between the great triangle of the train station, old town and the modern shopping districts. A simple 1 minute walk from Zurich station.

The amenities are fine and you get a great river view which also overlooks the Grossmunster and Fraumunster.

Agnes saw how tired we were from our flight from boston, and she let us check in early at noon...which was great. The rooms aren't huge, but neither is the hotel. The windows are thick double paned glass, so you wont hear much unless you want to open them up. It's has a restaurant/cafe in the lobby which has good food in case you don't feel like going far for a bite.

If I had to complain about something, it would be that there isn't a single English station on tv. Just give us CNN international. One station, and I'd be happy. If that's the worst thing here,I guess we are doing ok. Great hotel, staff and definitely location!

Room Tip: Ask for the river view room.

To begin, Zurich is not a cheap city. So while Limmatblick isn't overpriced compared to other hotels in the city, it certainly is still overpriced from my perspective.

But as the cheapest (but still quite expensive) boutique we could find for a late-booking, we wound up in what I'm told is the largest room available, with a double walk-out balcony immediately above the cafe. And while it was more expensive than we would have liked to have paid, but it was a massive, well-appointed room and there were absolutely zero draw-backs - which sure helps with any buyer's remorse!

Free wifi, a great breakfast downstairs in the attached Dada Bar (made a continental breakfast feel like a visit to an actual café), and a fantastic location immediately on the river and short walks to everything all add up to a great visit. The woman (I'm terrible with names) running the concierge/café for most of our stay was fantastic, warm and helpful.

I've read that there's no air conditioning here (which could be a problem), but as our trip was in late September, we were perfectly comfortable closing the patio doors and just using the provided fan. The doors are double-paned and completely sound-proof, which is important given the context of the hotel - immediately above a lively café/bar and on a rail/transit route. All of this worth noting for warm-weather travellers - without AC, be prepared for either a hot/silent sleep, or a cool/loud one.

This hotel was the cheapest we could find near the train station - we only needed a bed for the night so it was adequate. Room was a lot smaller than the photo portrayed but was clean. Bathroom was very small. No air conditioning was a problem because when you open the window the street noise from cafes and bars made it difficult to keep. Staff were friendly and it was a very convenient location. We wish we had stayed in Zurich longer as it was very interesting. If you are young this is the place to be as it is has a street party every weekend in the street behind this hotel - it was fantastic - like Splendour in the Grass every weekend!

Booked the Limmatblick Hotel for our stay in Zurich, selected the hotel for its location which is walking distance from the main train station and close the the city. Staff were warm and friendly, however once we got to the room it seemed smaller than what we had booked on the internet, we booked via a popular hotel booking site. After raising our complaint to the front desk, we were assisted by a friendly lady Tania who managed to move us up to their larger rooms, which was more in-line with what we booked online; the room had a great view of the lake. Our booking included breakfast, which consisted of a modest continental breakfast which was a great start to our day. Room had a fan which was great in Summer and made up for the fact that there is no AC in the room;it certainly helped when we kept the window closed through the night to mask the sound of the bars below, the rooms have double glazing so we heard virtually nothing.

Room Tip: Request room with view of the Lake

I stayed here since the hotel was the least expensive listed on a conference hotel list. This hotel is artsy and interesting, near a lot of restaurants and shops, plus it has its own bar. BUT, if it's hot, spend the money and book a 5 star hotel for air conditioning.

Yes, it's a North American travel need but you won't be able to sleep in Zurich on a hot night because the law apparently disallows a/c in hotels with less than 5 stars. So, you're already paying a lot of money and then you find out there is no a/c. Why does this matter at this hotel?

Well, the back rooms face the noisy restaurants, drunk people at 2am until 6am, and it's suffocating not to have the windows opened. The front room is somewhat better but still lots of noise.

Definitely choose this hotel if you're going on cooler months. Service was very good, very chill. Evening staff was more helpful than the morning staff. I really liked this place but the first few days in the heat were miserable. If you're there on business and need to sleep well, try to get a 5 star hotel.

Room Tip: Spend the extra for the front room with a balcony.
