“Charming hotel”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

I stayed here with a group of 20 other employees for a training event. It was a 5 minute walk from our office. As Zurich is very expensive and we are trainees, it was great that it was near grocery shops so that we could avoid eating in restaurants. As my job paid for the room, I cannot speak to value for money, but the room was so cute and charming! I am not fussed about fancy rooms I care only about quaint and clean and comfortable. My sister visited me and stayed in a cheap hotel closer to the city centre, and she said my room was like a 5 star compared to hers, and I believe they were very similar in price. The best part was that the staff was so sweet and lovely. My parents will be staying here when we visit next year and they are very much looking forward to it.

Room Tip: There is no pool/fitness centre/spa this is very much like a bed and breakfast.

When I call this a "budget hotel" I mean for Zurich, where hotels in general are very expensive. It has a nice location near the lake, and a fun and friendly restaurant. The room was quite basic and small, and the bed wasn't great.

Positives
+ Nice location in the Seefeld neighborhood, by the lake (great in summer)
+ Friendly
+ Room rates that are relatively low for Zurich
+ Fun and friendly "Latino" restaurant, great in summer (calm in winter)

Negatives
- Small rooms with small bathrooms
- Quite basic furniture
- Somewhat basic beds (mine had some sort of foam mattress)

Room Tip: Rooms are small so if you want space, you need to reserve a higher room category

Good location by the opera and many nice restaurants, but it's a quieter part of town. If you're comfortable with public transit it's a nice place. The room was small, as expected, but the furnishings were not very nice; I expected better. The staff was nice and the breakfast was traditional, but plentiful. If you're looking for a more "happening" young area I would recommend a more central location near Hauptbahnhof, but this area was fine for me.

This is a hotel that you will not remember as unique, but it is comfortable and close to the lake and tram route. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Too expensive for what it has to offer.
The Latino restaurant at the hotel has two Michelin stars.

Simple design and good service. Spotless rooms with toiletries provided.
Note that Switzerland is very expensive, so expect less for your money, however,
it is surprising to find Ikea décor with those prices. Wifi is available in the room, but went off occasionally.

The hotel is near the lake front, a leisurely and lovely 15 minute wall to the city centre. It is in a quiet area but with few restaurants and boutiques. The hotel is tastefully decorated and has a nice feel about it. Breakfast is very good in Swiss style with a selection of quality cereals, patisseries, fruits, cold meats and cheeses. Staff is very helpful. Rooms are larger than those in hotels close to the centre, so it's a good choice if you don't mind walking a little bit.

Hotel is only two short blocks from the lake, an easy 3 minute walk, then you can walk the lakefront path. Neighborhood is quiet, a few restaurants two blocks away. Hotel's restaurant had a nice crowd each night we were there. The complimentary breakfast is an excellent cold buffet: meats, cheeses, cereals, fruits, juices, large selection of breads and pastries. The room has hardwood floors, windows that open, iron, safe, flat screen TV on the wall. Bathroom is a bit tight, and hand held shower in the tub. Note the tub has a high side to step in, being knee high on a six foot tall person. Hotel is no smoking, does not have air conditioning, has an elevator, has computer for guest use. Hotel is two blocks from the tram, a 10 minute walk to the bahnhof stadelhofen (20 minutes to Zurich airport, no change of train), and a 30 minute walk up the Bahnhofstrasse to the Zurich HB. Hotel is a 15-20 minute walk to Old Town with shops and restaurants or to the Kunsthaus.

Room Tip: Our room faced the side street, which was quiet this FR-SU with the window open.
