“Super place to stay in Seefeld”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

The staff bent over backwards to make rooms available for early check in (our flight from JFK landed at 8:00 am). Rooms are clean and comfortable, with a mini-bar, wardrobe, bed-side tables, a small desk and chair and a coffee table and a couple of chairs. Floors are wood.
The included breakfast is very nice, a typical German-style breakfast with cold cereals, yogurts, juices, cheeses, cold cuts, jams and a profusion of breads, rolls, and breakfast pastries. They make coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to order and will bring more if you are lingering. The coffee is strong and good, with steaming hot milk. On Sunday morning there was Prosecco!
Free Wifi works in the rooms.
We ate twice in the Latino restaurant on the ground floor. Very nice meals, Italian themed.
For Zurich, the value is good. But with the Swiss Franc in the stratosphere, nothing in Switzerland is cheap.

The Seegarten hotel is a fantastic base from which to explore the lovely city of Zurich. We came for a long weekend in March for a city break. I really could not have asked for more from the hotel. Below are some of the reasons why it was so nice….

…. but first, my single biggest tip – BUY A ZURICH CARD FOR ALL YOUR TRANSPORT NEEDS (Boats, trains, trams, buses, free museum entrances and discounts all over Zurich) no I don’t work for the Swiss tourist office:

Location
The hotel is located less than 1 minutes stroll from the banks of Zurich lake, ideal for a nice promenade. You are in a really nice neighbourhood located near expensive car dealers and private banks…Getting to town also couldn’t be easier, you are less than 5 mins walk away from the Stadelhof train station or alternatively you can get the tram. The location offers peace and quiet.

Rooms
Our room was very comfortable. It had tasteful arty posters, wooden floor, comfortable bed and a high quality bathroom. Additionally there were nice touches such as a bathrobe, slippers and nice Swiss grooming products included. The mini bar was well stocked and the TV was good. Importantly, we couldn’t hear other guests, giving a sense of privacy.

Food
The breakfast spread was excellent, fresh meat, cheeses, juice, cereals and croissants. The coffee was good and cooked breakfast was available. This was a fantastic start to each day before heading out exploring. The restaurant (Latino) seemed busy every night, but we didn’t have dinner there so I cannot comment.

Value for Money
OK so this hotel is not the cheapest, much of Zurich couldn’t be described as “cheap”, but this hotel certainly delivers on value for money. It is a fantastic, comfortable, friendly and equipped hotel that made us feel really welcome in Zurich. Worth every Swiss Franc.

As a final testament, when I next stay in Zurich, I plan on it being here.

The room itself was very light and airy - very nice (on the 4th floor). However, the mattress was rock hard (and I like hard mattresses) and I don't think I have ever seen such a small bathroom. I mean seriously small - I could only just fit in the shower and I am not that big! However, it is a nice clean hotel within walking distance of the wonderful old town and very close to the river and Metro. The breakfast was included and was okay with lovely coffee.

the hotel seegarten is very charming. the interior design is country style fitting to the personal style of the staff. it is a small hotel in the trendy part of town seefeld, close by to the lake front and many restaurants. the rooms are nicely decorated, the floors a bit squeaky but it's worth it. the restaurant is very popular, also among non hotel residents. there's no hotel garage but if you only stay overnight many options to park in the streets

The hotel was pricey, but not unreasonably so considering it is in Zurich. The restaurant in the hotel was very nice; I had a delicious meal with a very attentive and personable staff. There are a few uniquely European bothers about switching keys and a strange elevator, but its nothing too unsettling. The breakfast was amazing, with meats and breads and mimosas, on par with all the "continental" breakfasts you'll find in Swiss hotels.

Very neat, small hotel, with a great deal of style. The room I had on the top floor was small but well fitted out. Staff were without exception friendly and helpful. The restaurant was expensive (that is no surprise) but served very good food. Breakfast was excellent and the free wi-fi was a bonus which was much appreciated. Location is good, the lake is nearby and there are good places to walk to from the hotel.
