“Quick bite for lunch...alone or with the family”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2013 via mobile

The place is divided into three areas. On the ground floor you can buy a sausage plus bun or other quick bites and return to the buzz of the city, eating while walking around. For those that have five minutes to spare, there is anumber of tall tables. If you want to sit down and enjoy a glass of wine, go to the second floor where a full restaurant setup will cater to your needs.
The food in all three areas is simple but delicious, consisting of sausages, rotisserie chicken, fries, soups, salads, etc. In the restaurant the menu is more varied and includes daily specials; today I ordered Gerstensuppe and it was delicious. Should you go for one of the various sausages (upstairs and downstairs) do not forget to taste the mustard. Be careful as it is quite strong and really clears your head....
All food is fresh and very tasty. The restaurant offers water for free and as such, if you are able to dispense with alcohol, the bill is affordable.
Should you have the time, get something to eat and sit down to watch the locals, and visitors, stroll by. The nearby train station is worth checking out as it was designed by Calatrava...lots of concrete, but the ceiling is worth a look.
Enjoy and I hope this helps,

W

“Typical Swiss Sausage”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

I'm happy I had the chance to eat these sausage. I took the veal sausage, with the bread and dijon mustard. It was delicious! It's a great way to taste local food and not spending to much. it was 7.5 CHF for this meal. Not to bad when you consider the price in Switzerland. There was a lot of people, so we ate while standing up next to a bar-type table.

“Expected more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

Did like the way tables are distributed: large table with different groups sharing the same space. We sit beside a group of excited girls that were talking loud and paying attention to our conversation (not sure why as I'm sure they didn't understand a word).
The sausage is great but nothing out of this world.
Didnt like the potato salad.
I don't regret going because our host said it is a very local place so we wanted to try it.
Not a bad experience but I don't feel like repeating it.

“Delicious”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2013

We are foodies and that is how we ended up having lunch at Sternen. On the suggestion of a local, we decided to give it a try. And we are glad we gave it a chance else we would have missed out on a lot. The menu they have has a lot of variety. However we had the bratwurst and found it interesting so do try that out when you visit this place.

2 Sausages and a bottle of water - 22 CHF

Enjoy!
