For sleeping the hotel is ok. Breakfast is not exiting, but is ok. No restaurant except for breakfast. Payment in advance is not what you normally expect, but means that checking out is simple - just deliver the key. Free WIFI is extremely slow. From an internet booking perspective, the only difference in name from the nearby located Ibis hotel is the word "Budget". That is how I, unintentionally, ended up there.

Overall I quite liked it for the price.

-It said a/c in the rooms, if that's true it must be central because there was no unit and no ability to control the room's temperature. The windows were openable; however the street traffic was very loud with the window open. (With them shut the room was fairly quiet.)

-In the rooms, no shampoo/conditioner/lotion/coffee/coffeemaker, just soap. There were only two towels and one was needed as a mat for coming out of the shower; there were no hand towels or washrags.

-Free wifi in the room had a good strong signal in both rooms I was in.

-The first room I was in had construction but it wasn't very loud and they only worked during the workday. The door latch would stick and I had to smack the door several times to get the latch to come out each time I wanted to close the door. I thought this was safe until the maid bumped the door and it sprung open even though it was locked! (She tried to close it a few times, then gave up and left, soI if your room is like this, change rooms immediately! Your stuff is not safe.)

-The bed was pretty comfortable for a European bed and the comforter was great.

-The headboard had remote control switches for the room's lights, so it was easy to switch them off at night.

-The tv was maybe 32", about the size of a large monitor, and had a remote and clock. There was no alarm clock in the room.

-The shower is not very modest, just semi-frosted glass in the bikini area, so if rooming with someone that could be awkward.

-The description said every room had a bunkbed and another bed. This didn't turn out to be the case--I had a full bed, no bunk--but I didn't need a bunk, either.

-The breakfast buffet was good and definitely worth the money: sandwich ingredients, yogurt, apples, tea selection and excellent coffee, oj and apple juice, granola and cocoa krispies and corn flakes, jams and butter and nut butter. I also tried the hot pasta vending machine in the lobby and it was pretty good! Fairly big portion, fairly good food, reasonable price. (There's a microwave inside the machine which makes your meal in 3 mins and pops it out hot in a tv dinner-like sealed container.)

-It's across the street from the #train which goes to Hauptbonhoff, or it's a half hour walk. The ticket machine at the close stop takes credit cards or cash, as do the Hauptbonhoff machines and the airport ticket counter. There's also a station about four blocks away (Bruenhucke or something like that) that goes directly to the airport which I think is easier than trying to transfer at HB, and costs the same, 6.40 fr.

Room Tip: If your door latch has issues, change rooms immediately! It's prone to opening even when locked!

Location wise this is best , you have tram 4 right next to the hotel and you reach main station very easily. There is no A/c or fan in the room, we were travelling in Aug and felt very uncomfortable. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel , instead went to Migros to get some , which is very near to the hotel.

I visited Zurich during early September 2012 for a last stop before going back home. This hotel is suit for a short staying as the price and quality are matched well.

The room is clean with a new condition but they dont provide you a full of bath set. (only small soaps you get)

For the direction,

Taking a Tram no. 4 from the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) to Technopark station.
After stepping out of the train, you can go straight (pass lots of coffee, chocolate shops) and keep walking out of the station in the same direction the train arrived.

Tram 4 is the second one. When you cross the first tram track and wait for Tram no 4 at the second track, your face will turn in front of the railway staion.

After boarding, train will pass the Swiss Museum on the right side (a tall tower with green and orange tiled roofs; you can see it while waiting at the station). During the way to hotel, you can notice Migros on the right at Limmatplatz station. This means you almost reach the hotel in the next two stops.

It takes 15 minutes from railway station to Technopark. Walk back a bit when you arrive Technopark station and you will see the hotel in front of you

Internet connection was slow and was probably segmented as there seem to be basic as well as premium connections.

Locations was central to CBD in Zurich and not very far from Zurich train station. Rooms are clean and nice.

For an expensive city as Zurich is, this hotel is really cheap and its geat value for the money you pay. For that price you really can find nothing. We booked a twin room which was clean with indeed double bed that had some vertical part which devides the two people inside. The distance to cental station takes 10 mins by tram #4. The tram stop is just infront the hotel and there is a ticket machine on it. Better buy 24 hour ticket as it cost as much as 2 single journeys tickets. Zürich Hardbrücke railway station is 200 meters away and we get off directly on it when arrived and took train S-16 from Zurich airport. Etap offers free wi-fi which was very nice. Also you can order food there and to get an adapter from the reception if you need it. Everything was good, no complains at all.

It's a very basic hotel, the rooms are small, but it had everything I needed, the front desk was friendly and helpful, and the price is right. I got a kick out of all the design innovations calculated to minimize cost and maintenance (interesting layout for sink, hole instead of knob for the shower door, etc). This place ended up being cheaper than the youth hostel for my family. Breakfast (11 CHF extra, free for kids) was great, and also they have large circular tables that seat at least 10 or so, where you have a chance to meet some fellow travelers.

Some suggestions:
The fruity smelling cleaner used in the hallway smells far too strong - tone it down a bit.
The wifi setup is confusing. It worked the first 2 days, then I had a problem (invalid for location or something). I ended up just not doing wifi, could probably have consulted with the front desk but didn't bother since I didn't particularly need wifi just then.
