Excellent location, airport, train, tram and always on time! Short walk from the station, not the main rail station, that's a good 10/15 minutes away. Very convenient for sight seeing and close to the Lake, which we could see from out bedroom (San Diego) San Francisco would also be a good room choice. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, great breakfast in the street level funky PapaJoe's. Steps and an elevator to reach the 1st floor reception area. Fun colorful decor makes for a happy atmosphere, a good way to start your holiday....wish we could have stayed 3 nights, instead of 2. There is so much to see and do, Zurich is such a beautiful cultural City.

Let me get this straight: Zurich is hell-expensive uberall. You need to get really lucky to find such conditions at this (fair) price.

Location:
Excellent - on the left side in Altstadt, almost nearby the river, just a few hundreds meters away of the lakeside, superclose to everything: churches, museums, food, shops and the all-swiss-etcetera.

Rooms
I dont know the others rooms but if i have to stay again here i want the very same one: 36, the Palm Beach Room, on the 3rd floor, facing the river. Very cozy and superfunctional, typicaly swiss, with only one exception: the shower who needs some fixing. Not superlarge but enough, given the conditions and the panorama over the river and the lake, just beautiful. Nice sleep, no noise (then again, it was april) and I dont know the breakfast but one friend had it and said it was good.

Nice staff, the least we had to deal with it was polite and needsolving. Thanx for everything.
I enjoy it and I recommend it.

I have to admit, I was more than a little skeptical when my husband selected this hotel. But when we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised! We arrived later in the evening, the cab had no trouble finding it even though it's tucked away between restaurants and shopping. We were shown to the elevator and directed to the second floor check in desk. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Our room looked out onto the pedestrian street. The room was cozy but the bed was so comfy...and the room was quite clean and there was plenty of space for all of our stuff. The best part of our stay was the location...right in the old town, close to the tram and the train station. No need for a car here! The area is so beautiful and there is so much to do nearby. The breakfast was amazing, you order anything that you want right from the menu. We would definitely return!!!

This hotel is in good location in downtown; very close to tram station and just 10 minutes walk from Zurich train central station. Rooms aren't very big, but are clean and confortable. Breakfast is ok, and crew's are very kind.

I have to say I was a bit sniffy about this hotel. We had just stayed at the Radisson in Bratislava which was a world away from this - and I don't like a hotel that doesn't have a ground floor and is above a restaurant/bar. Also, once we lugged our cases up the stairs to reception it looked like an explosion in a paint factory. It's very brightly decorated and heavily themed - hotel California - geddit? Lots of Americana and bright colours. Um. And there was a complicated key system which annoyed me. However, we soon warmed to the place. Although our room was near reception it wasn't noisy and it was large if a little basic. Bathroom was ok and there was no view but as we were out most of the time it didn't bother me. Breakfast is downstairs at the back of the restaurant and at first I was not impressed with the meagre display until I realised you could order hot food from the menu. It has some peculiar 'toasts' which sounded horrible but may well be very nice but I had eggs, bacon etc which was fine. The staff were pleasant and helped me find the hot water which is part of the coffee machine. The location is excellent - walking distance to most sights, the lake and the old town and there's a little tram nest at Belle Vue and boats trips round the lake. It's around 20 minutes walk to the main railway station or take a number 4 tram. All in all a quirky hotel in a good location with nice staff - though the bar downstairs does get noisy on a Saturday night.

This is a lovely hotel with great location and reasonable price for visiting downtown on foot(215 F, 2 rooms 4 adults + a 3 years old child-1 night). Rooms are big. Bed and shower are great. The hotel rooms are on the first floor (There is an elevator). If you arrive at 19.00, you ring a bell and have to wait till someone comes to let you in. (You get a key for the front door in case you want to stay late outside) Hotel colors are very warm and colorful (yellows&blues) with American names on doors, etc. Staff is very helpful. Free Zurich maps and "what to see" on front desk. There is a garage near by for parking (we had a rented station) -200 meters away, 48 F for 20 hours.
Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the ground floor and made to your choice. Take your time. On weekends, there is nothing to do, before 10-11.00 a.m. Enjoy visiting on foot the downtown and take a boat ride when you are tired.

Room Tip: Since the hotel is on first floor look for the sign "California hotel" close to the restau...

Great choice in the center of Old Town sites and within 15 minutes of Bus Station (easy walk) to meet tour buses. Definitely would stay there again. Great breakfast in Restaurant. Staff always helpful (available in restaurant if not at front desk). Great choice.
