My wife and I were very happy with our stay at this hotel. The service was friendly, the room was a good size, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is located on a major square in Zurich's Old Town and is about a ten minute walk from the train station. (It might take longer if you aren't sure of where you're going and/or are carrying lots of luggage.) A breakfast buffet was included and consisted of breads, cereal, fruits, yogurt, cheeses, cold cuts, fruit juices, cofee & tea. We stayed here three nights and the only problem was that we were woken up a few times by street noise the first night. It didn't happen the next two nights. I suspect that there may have been an unusual amount of partying going on that night as they were holding a special event related to the Zurich Film festival in the Square in front of the hotel.

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Wellenberg in mid-Sept '06 after flying in from Calgary, Canada. We took the time to un-jet-lag and sightsee prior to a 14 day bus tour of Switzerland. The Wellenberg is ideally located for doing the tourist stuff in Zurich, being a convenient walk from all desired sites, as well as being located in the heart of a restaurant district. Our room, which was on the top floor, was comfortabe and sufficiently spacious by European standards (i.e., unless one is paying really big bucks, one does not get the fancily-appointed North American standards in the old European cities). The bed and pillow (as stated in some previous review) are not as comfortable as home but our attitude is that if we wanted to have all of the comforts of home, we would stay home and not travel >> they were just fine for traveling purposes. (We take the differences as part of the adventure and experience of travel.) The hotel provides very convenient, good-quality, take-home slippers, which lasted our entire 27 days in Europe (which came to be very convenient). The staff were most friendly and helpful. Our room was on the rear side of the hotel, which provides for less of a view but then does make it considerably more quiet in the early morning hours, when the street activity is still ongoing. The breakfasts were typicaly Swiss, which means not having hot bacon and eggs, etc. but rather a nice assortment of cold cuts, different cheeses, croissants, tea, coffee, etc. The front desk always had a nice assortment complementary fresh fruit. The breakfast patio looked very welcoming but the early morning temperatures had us eating in a very cheery 2nd floor breakfast room. We made our reservations based on our 90% Trip Advisor factor (i.e., 90+ % of the reviewers rate it highly) and again were certainly not disappointed. We would stay there again.

It had been a long, unpleasant flight from Dallas, but when we got to the Welleberg Swiss Q, all that changed. The staff at the desk were friendly, honest, and very helpful. Arriving at 9:30 a.m. after a 10-hour flight, we dreaded the prospect of hanging around an unfamiliar city for 5 or 6 hours, waiting to check into our hotel. To our amazement, and delight, they told us our room would be ready in an hour, and in reality, it was more like 15 minutes.
The room was small, but tastefully decorated, and impeccably clean. Loved the hotel's location on the right bank, nestled among cobblestone streets in a student-and-middle-class part of town. The view from our window, of rooftops, church steeples, and the university, was charming. The tea service, with hot cholocate, and the fruit plate delivered in the afternoon, were nice touches. It was nice to be able to open the windows and let in the clean, fresh air as well. The bathroom was the nicest of any small hotel we've ever stayed at. And the bed was so comfortable! (I am so sick of too-firm hotel beds most places we go.)
The art deco interior of the hotel was beautiful throughout, and the continental breakfast ( included in the room price) in the pleasant, sunlit breakfast room was abundantly stocked with a wide variety of breads, cheeses, yogurt, cold cuts, eggs, cereal, etc.
BTW, the shuttle service from the airport is excellent, and the driver is honest. The fare is billed to the room, so no need to worry about carrying cash for that purpose.

Well located hotel (in quiet area closed to most traffic, with friendly helpful staff. Located in Old City area near the Lake. Rooms large, airy, CLEAN, with comfortable beds. Whilst expensive (everything in Zurich is) is good value for money.

My wife and i stayed 2 nights at this very comfortable clean hotel which is bang in the middle of the old town of Zurich. The area is a buzz day and night and full of places to eat and drink. We took the advice of a previous Trip Advisor member and asked for a room overlooking the back of the hotel just to be sure that we weren't disturbed by the street noise -good advice thanks. The breakfast was very nice and refreshing to see a fine selection of local cheeses, fresh orange juice maker and excellent breads. There is a very pleasant vine covered terrace for guests to use. My only complaint was that we booked a non smoking room but could smell someone next door smoking which wasn't too pleasant. When I asked the receptionist if my floor (5th) was a no smoking floor she said it was. There should have been a sign outside the lift to this effect as there was on the third floor.
