After a few days tour in Austria, Italy and Switzerland, I can say that this was the best 4 star hotel we slept in (and they were all were 4 stars).
The Wellenberg has everything you need - warm wellcome at the reception desk, fully renovated room (with very good taste I might add), wifi that works fast and without any problems, rich and tasty breakfast, and housekeeping crew that can make the sofa in 3 minutes, professionally and without forgetting the extra amenities needed.
Some of the things I look for in a hotel might look trivial but are rather not correctly done or sometimes missing.
Checkin was quick, we ordered a deluxe king room and were upgraded to a junior suite which was beautiful. (note that it was fully renovated, not just partially) when I asked reception to send someone to make the sofa for my son, it took about 2 minutes and 2 housekeeping guys brought everything and made the bed professionally.
All the staff you meet are welcoming and smiling and you feel comfortable staying there.
If and when I visit Zurich again, I would definitely go back to the Wellenberg as it is a high class hotel. I can only recommend it strongly.

The hotel is very good and is in a very nice neighborhood! The location is great allowing to walk to many places. The concierge is very kind and helpful. The bed is very good and the bathroom is ok. We stayed 3 days and everything worked fine. The temperature in Zurich was between 10/12 degrees Celsius and inside the room was good but sometimes i felt the room a little warm. As the Hotel has no air conditioning i do not know how is going to be in high Summer. You better ask!!! All bedroom windows are sound-proofed. The breakfast is pretty fair!?

Great vacation. Newly renovated and clean hotel, variety of choices at breakfast. The staff were very friendly (especially Huma who kept us updated with all the attractions around). The hotel is located close to many attractions, authentic restaurants, cafes, bars and of course the train station. Already waiting to come back there!

We enjoyed our stay at the Wellenberg. It's central location, one block from Zurich's phenomenal tram and river taxi services meant we could be anywhere in Central within 15 minutes. The windows were excellent, and when closed kept out the noise of the tourists below remarkably well. The same could not be said of the doors (our neighbors down the hall let their shrieking children run the halls at 6:30 each morning). The rooms were clean, but the carpet padding had seen better days and the carpet was coming up in places. The beds are comfortable, but the pillows were very thin. The complimentary breakfast was phenomenal, and included select cheeses, pastries, eggs, granola, fruit, and a machine to make fresh-ground espresso, cappuccino, and lattes. We didn't eat breakfast anywhere else during our stay. Overall, this was a nice experience, with a few minor hiccups.

Stayed here for two nights. It's the old part of Switzerland, and it is might cute and quaint. The hotel is very clean, the room was a nice size, and the hotel itself was perfectly located. The breakfast is very basic, but it is just perfect if you are embarking on a day of sightseeing and shopping - not gluggy or oily or anything like that. Tip to travellers: The shops and restaurants that are located on this side of the river deal in Swiss Francs. This is good if you carry them. If not, you could be up for a lot of money if it's only Euros that you are carrying!!!! This includes your cab ride from the airport too. Be wary of this little snag!!!
