“modern hotel for weekend stay”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

Good weekend rates (hotel website, priceline etc.). Nice new modern hotel rooms (disagree with previous reviewer, definitely not US motel quality).
We had room with two comfortable beds (double beds which can sleep two adults each), room had separate toilet room which is good for sharing, higher floor facing the train tracks didn't hear much noise.
Careful to bring voltage converters when using in bathroom. Did not eat at hotel. Grocery stores Migros, Coop at Zurich Airport and train stations are convenient for buying food etc.. Hot water kettle in room. Taxi from airport to hotel was 62chf in traffic at night (more convenient with luggage, jet lag and multiple people since there is no direct public transportation from airport, need to change trains and walk)
Used Tram only since stop just 1 block behind hotel - about 10 min to downtown/ main train station. Friendly hotel staff can give you all the transport, tourist, nearby restaurant info (recommended Italian restaurant was good).

The hotel is a airport hotel about 20mins by taxi to the airport and about 75 euros from the train station.
Lobby and common areas look good but the rooms are very motel like. Damp and dead. Being close to the railway line the noise does not help either.
Stay here only if on a free trip by your company or if you have no place to go to in Zurich.
Have fun and travel safe

Room Tip: Very far from the city and the railway station. Take rooms not facing the railway track.

Located 1 Sbahn stop from the Zurich HBF, but sadly in a commerical/Industrial waste land not to mention constrcution zone, luckily the S Bahn runs about every 2 mins so it is possible to get into the city quite easy. Zurich is expensive & This hotel is no exception, you would have thought for the price room internet could be included, but no & then after they charge you chf 29.95 per day you can also use 1 device at a time, please this is really pathetic, doulbe rooms, 2 people, iphone, Ipad , lap top etc............ 1 at a time for CHF 29.95 per day. Breakfast is also extra as well. The rooms are decent, nice big bathroom, TV with multiple language channels, nice soft comfortable beds, but the negative outweights the positive for me............... The Gym on the top floor is very nice, well equipped & some views of the construction zones!!

Zurich's train and tram system makes the location of this hotel a good choice if you are in Zurich. We stayed in two rooms here for a total of three nights after a long transatlantic flight. Despite all the reveiw stating this is a 3 minute or 5 minute walk from the train station, we decided to hire a taxi. The reason is, of course, those time estimates are usually from door to door. When inside the train station, you still have haul your luggage up or down stairs/escalators, ramps, and then deal with rain or other wind conditions. No thanks. If you're paying for a 4 star, I would suggest hiring a taxi. It costs about 50-55 CHF each way.

The hotel itself is fine. We didn't have a single meal here, since we went into town every day. There is a grocery store close to the train station as well, if you want to buy anything. Considerin the ridiculous prices for food in Zurich, I would suggest doing this.....I mean come on...they charge you 50 cents for a signle package of ketchup in fast food restaurants.

Back to the hotel....Although everyone says it's a 3-5 minute walk from the train station, it really isn't all the intuitive, and you have to walk through a run-down factory area, with cars zooming by.

The tram system, is very efficient, and really not too expensive. The hotel staff will tell you how to get anywhere. As long as you have a credit card that uses a Pin #, you can pay for the trams with credit rather than with coins....no paper money. The hotel staff can sell the tram tickets for adults, but not children. For the tickets they give you, you will need to validate the ticket before boarding the tram. It works on an honour system, but if they catch you without it, they will give you a hefty fine...apparently.

The rooms are comfortable, but not very cozy. The beds were also comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. We were jet-lagged, so we really had no trouble sleeping for the three nights...just tired all the time.

Overall the service was good, sleep comfort was good, and the location was fine.

Room Tip: Take a taxi here if you have kids and/or large pieces of luggage

This was my second stay in this hotel. The Renaissance Zurich Tower Hotel is located in Zurich West (5 minutes by footwalk from the commuter train station "Hardbrücke"). You will reach the hotel from Zurich-Airport within 10 minutes by train (2 stops). From the hotel, you reach the city center either by Tram or by train in no more than 10-15 minutes. Given the fact, that the hotel is located in the very trendy (lots of restaurants and bars) and fast growing west-end, this is a very valid alternative to city center hotels - also during the weekend if you extend your stay or if you are in Zurich for leisure. I was in Zurich on a business trip and stayed in a suite on the 11th floor. The suite is spacious with modern furniture and separate bedroom. The bathroom is big and comfortable with separate shower and baththube - no rain-shower from the ceiling. The room was very bright and clean. The bed is comfortable with pillow menu. TV in both, living and bedroom, however no sound-output from the TV in the bathroom. You pay extra for internet if not included in your room-rate. The executive lounge to which I had access belongs to the best ones I have seen so far. Spacious with a great view from the 14th floor. Breakfast-buffet (hot and cold items) in the morning was very rich. Staff friendly. This is a very good alternative to Zurich downtown hotels, in particular if you arrive from the airport.

We chose this hotel because it is within walking distance of the Letzigrund stadium where we were attending a concert. The hospitality at the hotel is personable, sincere, and professional. The room was immaculate, tastefully decorated and roomy by European standards. I found the hotel through Expedia and got a great deal. The only drawback is that it is not within walking distance of the train station or old town. The cab fare one way from the train station is 20 euros which I expected as Zurich is one of the most expensive cities in Europe for taxis. Yes, we probably could have taken public transportation but were too tired by the time we arrived to figure that out. The hotel is situated in an industrial area therefore it would probably be an ideal hotel for a business traveler or someone like us attending an event at Letzigrund.

Executive lounge interesting with a real opportunity to restore or work and fridge well filled. Cozy room with nice shower-room. Sport-room, sauna and steam-room available. Hotel a little far from downtown but very well located in relation to my meeting and close to a train station to reach the airport.
