During our recent trip to Switzerland, we chose (again) the Seehof Hotel; in total, we had five separate stays.
Since our previous visit in 2014, the hotel rooms have been redecorated with a nautical theme. To reinforce this, each floor is called a “deck”.
This time, we booked a Superior Double which gave us more room to move and a sofa and coffee table for relaxing. Blinds for privacy can be covered with blackout curtains and this, combined with an excellent mattress, makes for a good night's sleep.
The room comes with a safe; a portable fan was ready and waiting; and the TV has been upgraded. As our room faced the courtyard at the back, it was usually quiet.
The Seehof meets our needs for being near public transport: it’s less than five minutes away from a tram stop (Opernhaus) and a train station (Stadelhofen). Trains direct to the airport leave from here twice an hour – a ticket costs CHF 6.20. The hotel’s also near a couple of restaurants and only a few minutes away from the lake, where the lakeshore is a great place for a stroll or for people-watching. As well, it’s an easy walk, whichever side of the river you choose, back to the centre of Zurich.
Staff at reception are so friendly and are ever-ready to help with requests. One morning, on our way out for the day, I mentioned that the shower door had a crack in the seal. The whole seal had been replaced by the time we returned.
We were allowed to store one suitcase while we travelled for a few days; it was waiting in our room on our return.
We can’t go past the Seehof for customer service. Special thanks to Denise and Jasmine, who welcomed us warmly each time we returned.
We hope to see you next year!
