This is deservedly one of the main highlights of Zürich.... there’s such a lovely range of artists here (something to keep everyone happy), but not so overwhelming that it can’t be visited in its entirety in a very pleasant 2-3 hours.

Many of the world’s favourite artists are here (even if only one piece) - Dali, Rembrandt, Guardi, Canaletto, Munch, Van Gogh, Chagall, Worhol, Ernst, Miro, Picasso, Monet, Manet. Matisse. Cezanne, Degas, Courbet, Delacroix, Toulouse-Lautrec and Rubens (plus more!).

There’s an included audio guide that was great for some of the important items but wasn’t on every picture, sparing you from overload!

Be aware it’s closed on Mondays... so make sure this is absolutely part of your Zürich itinerary.

Museum has a good range of artists from old masters to contemporary. A couple of Warhol, only one Dali.

Disclaimer: not very well versed in art.

This museum has two different exhibitions - one that's permanent, featuring the "old masters", all the way to modern, 20th century art. The second exhibition is a temporary exhibition – in June 2019, this was an exhibition focused on the moon. Prices include the all-access ticket (20 francs), and the permanent-only ticket (16 francs).

In addition, this museum offers free audio guides that offer in-depth background on works of art, including their historical significance, their stylistic background, their imagery, and the themes and message they convey. As someone with very little background in art history, I was able to enjoy the fantastic variety of artwork and learn a lot about Swiss history and art in the process!

The building is pleasant to wander through and the Giacomettis are particularly good. The moon exhibit presently on is interesting. There's also a wonderful Rembrandt in the permanent collection.

This very open floor plan art museum has something for everyone, beginning with a temporary exhibition commemorating the 1969 moon landing. From middle age traditional paintings to modern day art forms (Warhol and beyond), there’s enough here for anyone to appreciate.
