“A little bit of everything”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

I am not a huge fan of modern art, but that was not an issue at the Kunsthaus. There is a huge modern collection, but also plenty of Old Masters and Impressionist

“Paintings centered on 19th and 20th century Swiss painters and others painting in Zurich”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

Ferdinand Hodler's work is dominant in this museum - Munch, Matisse and Chagall also present. Works range from the Medieval to just after WW II, but the bulk is from the mid 19th to pre-WW II.

“An outstanding collection”
Reviewed June 22, 2013

You can easily spend a couple of hours here. The outstanding collection is very well displayed in spacious galleries. Arrive on Wednesdays for free admission. Use the lockers if you're carrying a bottle of water, otherwise you'll be ticked off by the attendants, but photography is permitted. The cafe is a nice place to end your visit.

“Bit of a strange collection...”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

Probably better to go to the Lowenbrau museum? The Kunsthalle has a bit of everything and not one thing that really stands out. Good enough, but not exceptional. (Except for the amazing Rodin doors outside).

“Art Gallery”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

Varied mix of paintings from 16th century up to 20th century. Museum is well set out and not too large to overwhelm. We particularly liked the Imprressionist section which included paintings by Monet, van Gogh and Sisley.
