“Charming area in ZH”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2013

Nice area with beautiful shops and pubs.Good to have a walk for 2 to 3 hours. The Grossmünster is a must in this part of the city. Climbing the stairs to the tower is rewarded with a amazing view.

“Round tour to favourite places”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

A round-tour to my favourite places: Walk from Central place opposite the railway main station through Niederdorf (small shops with regular prices, bars and Restaurants), have a drink in a Rosenhof bar or at the Öpfelchammer restaurant and continue to Grossmünster (one of the most important historical places of Zurich). Climb its Karls-tower (unless you are not afraid of walking up very narrow stairs), it offers a great view over the old town! Afterwards cross Münsterbrücke towards Fraumünsterkirche with its beautiful choir windows designed by Marc Chagall. Follow the river downwards on the small Wühre path - or walk through the small streets with lots of exclusive boutiques. Have a rest under the old basswood tree on beautiful St. Peter-Hofstatt, continue towards Lindenhof place which offers a great view over the river and finally follow the Schipfe path on the riverside towards Heimatwek house (authentical but expensive Swiss souvenir-shop) at Urania-Bridge. When arriving there after dark, a visit at the Jules Verne Panorama bar on top of the tower next by might mark a suitable end of the day.

“Charming”

Its a very nice and charming area in Zurich. There are narrow cobble stone paths with hidden small restaurants and bars. A really good area to spend an afternoon walking.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Zurich `old town` is a beautiful place. The River Limmat runs along side one of the many lovely streets which on a nice day is great to sit outside one of the many bars and just watch the world go by. There are lots of little cobbled back streets with lovely shops and boutiques to look around. It is fascinating to look at some of the prices and how expensive they seem. There is an excellent choice of restaurants and bars around, something to suit everyone. It really is a place to see when in Zurich.

“2 sides and a river inbetween”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

If you come from the railway station to the Central (square) you enter the old town with may restaurants and clubs, it is called the Niederdorf, you follow all the way up to the grossmuenster, turn left, croxx the river limmat north of the Rathaus (parliament of town and state) on the "Gmuesbrügg", follow the river to the next church, were you find painted windows (by chagall), then you step up to St. Peter, the church with the biggest watch of Europe, then you climb the lindenhof, wich was a roman castle (on the way up you see a roman grave of a boy).
Good luck.
