The Baerengasse restaurant is well known for offering the famous Ojo de Agua beef imported by Dieter Meier (one of the two members of the band Yello) from Argentina. It is located right on Paradeplatz in the center of the town in the Credit Suisse building - a safe guarantee for a hefty price tag.

The service is very friendly and competent, but when the restaurant is full they seem to be quite in stress and you will have some waiting times. Restaurant decoration is in brasserie style which also means a bit cramped seating in some places.

The food is excellent in taste, preparation and presentation, with one small exception: we were not very impressed by the quality of the meat, it was good but neither very tender nor tasty. In my opinion the Goodman has better food and the Rolli's better value for money if a good steak is what you are looking for in Zurich.

This modern bistro is located in a side-street of the Bahnhofstrasse, towards the lake of Zurich.

Service is always good and fast. It doesn't matter which day of the week you'll visit this place it is always crowded with local Zurich people.

As I work on a weekly base in Zurich, I've been here several times with business clients.

The best thing on the menu is the steak, which you can combine with Lobster (surf & turf). All side dishes you need to order separately.

I know that Switzerland is an expensive country, but don't be surprised as the bill is CHF 240,- at the end of the evening for a modest meal for 2 people.

Don't mind the German service which has a tendency to be too stiff.
Don't mind the location where at night you gonna be the the only one on the street although this is in the heart of Zurich.
Just enjoy the great food, the great meat that they offer... and reserve ahead! And prefer lunch :)

We had a very nice lunch here. For sure we chose beef (Entrecôte) - as the meat gets imported from Argentina directly. As expected - the quality was amazing (yet the size of the meat portions (still 250g!! - thus above average for Switzerland) not comparable to Argentina :) .. with Cabaña Las Lilas' 800g baby beef portions).
The cattle is bred on Dieter Meier's organic farm. The atmosphere of the restaurant is wonderful and very authentic. Dieter Meier himself visits his restaurant regularly and we had the chance to say hello!
Many thanks for the nice experience.
I will definitely come back.
Suerte!

Carnivores of all creeds: this is your place
Steak or tartare : your choice of preparation and sauces. Excellent meat and accompaniements.
Simple and no changes.
Great Argentinian wines including from the owner's property:Puro
Always full at lunch time (located in one of the big bank's buildings...) small but warm.
Service can be a bit inattentive and we wish there would be more variety, however on your protein day, this is it.
This is Zurich, dead center, therefore pricey and the portions are not very generous, your roastbeef has 3-4 very thin slices only.
