A 10 minute bus ride from Winterthur Main Station or even better, leave the bus at "Breite" and explore the walking path and "secret trail" - as my daughter calls it - along the walking path through the forest. Beautiful park with lots of animals to see, playgrounds, restaurant, small take away and a large picnic area outdoors. Food and drink is quite expensive so we usually bring our own and have a picnic or light a fire at one of the BBQ spaces around the parc.

Be sure to check the timetable for the bus, there's only one from spring to autumn and not daily - but it's a really nice walk. Depending on the age of children walking takes 30-90 minutes and you can use strollers.

This is a well established wild life parc in Winterthur. You won't see lions and elephants but rather deer and bore and horses and: wolves!, but the location in the Eschenberg forest is lovely, it comes with a small restaurant and a huge 'Biergarten'-like outdoor restaurant in the summer. For small kids there is a big outdoor playground. It is a perfect place to spend one or two hours to slow down and relax.

A 10 minute bus ride from Winterthur Main Station, this park is a great place to spend a few hours wandering around enjoying the animals and sunshine. There is a little cafe/sausage stand if you're wanting to grab something quickly to eat as well as a restaurant if you'd like to sit down and dine. There are also BBQ's that you can cook your own sausages on (and not pay 7.50francs for the privilege) if you would like to - but if you are going to do that either get there early or be prepared to wait a little for some BBQ sapce.
The 'wanderwegs' or walking paths are great and seem to zigzag all over the park meaning you can explore lots of different areas of the park and see the animals.
It's a great place to go with the family or even if you would just like to wander through the forest.
