Charming hotel in idyllic setting. Zug has all the Swiss attractions - beuatiful medieval Altstadt, located on a lakeshore with distant views of snow topped mountains. The Loewe has a prime location close tothe lake shore on the market square. There is always a warm welcome, the rooms are spotless and breakfast is terrific.Book well in advance. Not cheap, but prices are OK by Swiss standards.

Nice small hotel, well situated in the centre of Zug. Ask for a room with a view of the lake, it's a charming view.

Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. I was surprised to find a very extensive breakfast buffet and a range of cooked options. I had a perfect soft boiled egg one morning. The next day I had to leave very early in the morning to get a flight and staff offered to ask the night porter to get me some breakfast before I left at 6 am.

The bedroom was pleasant but could have been improved with new curtains - the ones in place were not worn or dirty but are thin, nylon and brightly patterned in a large pattern with several primary colours and looked they were better suited to an underfunded public hospital ward.

Stayed here for two nights and was very impressed.

On arrival to the hotel I realised I had left my iPhone in the taxi ... gutted. The staff member on duty really could not have been more helpful and without his help I don't think I would have got it back.

The room was a decent size and very very clean. Decor a bit dated but impressive choice of TV channels and comfy bed. View was non existent from my room, so ask for a room with lake view.

I thought the breakfast was delicious, so fresh and very high quality.

Points of improvement: WIFI is chargeable (this always annoys me) but even worse it is desperately slow. Hardly worth having. No Kettle or free water in room. I kind of expect this from 4 Star hotel.

Overall fantastic- the staff, breakfast and location make this a true Gem in Zug.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking lake !!

Definitely a gem and would highly recommend. Located in the nicer part of town- right by the lake. Impeccably clean and with extremely helpful and friendly staff- nothing was a problem to them! Excellent restaurant right next door too.
Will look forward to booking again.

The hotel was great. Service and rooms were nice. Breakfast was awsome (best we had throughout Europe) and the location...! On a beautiful lake with mountains in the distance. Shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes and train station within walking distance (and closer!). It is quite expensive but you definately get what you pay for!

I stayed 1 night in this hotel for business. The hotel is central located and you could have a nice view at the lake. Unfortunately my room had only a view on the back of another building. I didn't hear any noise coming from outside, but it was in the middle of the week, not the best weather and rather quiet in town. The hotel is situated in the part of the city where traffic is limited. You can find several nice places around the hotel for lunch and dinner. Didn't try the restaurant next to the hotel; breakfast was okay but not really outstanding. Prices: this is Zug! Hotel and restaurant are quite expensive, so be aware. Only half an hour drive to Zürich. You can also go by train. To the Zürich airport by train: 45 min (Ticket 19 CHF one way per person).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view at the lake!

At first we were hesitant about this hotel, we needed to be in Zug for business and this hotel was much cheaper than Park Hotel that we stayed in before. Both are 4 star. But in the end the good reviews won us over and we booked in the Lowen. We usually rent a car for our trips and it was a bit difficult to get to the hotel (lots of pedestrian areas around the hotel) and parking is at another location, a few minutes walk from the hotel.
Check in went smooth, one of us forgot our international adaptor for laptop and reception provided that in a flash. No problems with wi-fi, room service also good.
The decor is definately a bit dated.
I recommend that you ask for a lake facing room, our room looked out on the back of surrounding buildings and its not a pretty view, as well as very noisy during the evening. I like to sleep with aircon off and open window, but had to close window in the middle of night because of bottles being dumped and just a lot of commotion going on outside.
Breakfast was great, their scrambled eggs are exceptional!
