This is a wonderful hotel. Excellent staff, service, accommodations & location. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a good variety. Very close to bus stop, and only moments from the heart of Montreux & train station by bus. It is a beautifully maintained & appointed historic hotel. The common balcony overlooks the lake & is quite beautiful. Highly recommended.

Their website and the email I received imply that each room has a shower. They don't. We were put in a room that had only a tub in the bathroom, with a shower down the hall that could be used. I complained and we were moved to a room with a shower.
The Wi-Fi is absolutely terrible---extremely slow with frequent disconnections. They have what looks like a cheap, old, router sitting out in a hallway.
The TV in the room is a 13 inch CRT that looks to be about 15 years old.
We had dinner one night in their dining room; our waitress spoke absolutely no English. Some guests at the hotel were from Asia and other places around the world, and were speaking English. English is the common language of the world; it seems to me that all employees should speak some English.
Nice big rooms, clean. Very good breakfast served in nice dining room with plenty of tables. Fine old hotel, well-maintained. Quiet area, free parking at hotel.

Room Tip: If you want a shower in your room, be sure to specify that and get it confirmed by email.

We stayed in nine hotels during our 3 week vacation, and rate this bed and breakfast hotel as one of the finest of our trip. This was my sixth trip to Europe and my party consisted of my wife, 70 Yr old sister and myself. We stayed at the Masson Hotel 5 – 7 June 2011. It is an historic hotel built in 1829, and while there is not an elevator all rooms are accessible by wide staircases. Our room was on the third floor (room 33) which sleeps three, had comfortable beds, GREAT lovely views of Lake Geneva and the mountains, and the soothing sound of sheep in the field adjacent to our hotel. I’m not sure the lower floor rooms have as nice a view. The owner and staff were most helpful and courteous. We greatly enjoyed their breakfast buffet: Coffee and hot chocolate, boiled eggs, and large selection of deli meats, cheeses, juices, bread, rolls and delicious preserves! The hotel has an in-house baker and wonderful flaky croissants! Hotel is in a great - quiet location on an elevated hill, limited free on-site parking, and the hotel offers a free city bus transportation card. The walk down to the main road to catch the bus is easy, but the up-hill hike back to the hotel can be strenuous. The bus system is very easy to use with posted maps inside each bus, recorded announcements regarding each stop, and well marked bus stops. We exchanged currency at the train station in town and visited the Co-Op store (next to train station) for bottled water and snacks. I had a great visit here and would not hesitate to choose this hotel for a future stay! Dining: We only had breakfast at this hotel and it was great! Only negative comment: We arrived at the hotel around 10 AM and the owner kindly offered us a cup of coffee while we waited for the maids to finish cleaning our room. At checkout we discovered the three cups of coffee, that we thought was complimentary, actually cost us 18 Euro ($27 US). I didn’t challenge the coffee charge, but at 306.90 Euro per night for our triple room ($460.00 US per night), I $9 per cup of coffee somewhat diminished my original perception of their hospitality.

Room Tip: Room 33 has commanding view of Lake Geneva. Lower floor rooms may have view restrictions due to tre...

This hotel was a perfect getaway in a great location - not centrally located but accessible. The old-house quality was very fun. Sure, the floors creaked, but we didn't want to stay in a Marriott either. The food was very good, breakfast one of the best ever, and I highly recommend staying in one of the balcony rooms during the summer. You can't beat the ambience. Service was excellent even each staff person had numerous duties.

Room Tip: Choose the one with the large balcony overlooking the expansive yard.

Lovely old hotel with furniture to match.

We were in room 11 which was supposed to have a private balcolny only to find the windows behind the balcolny were in fact the living room windows and anyone sat there could see you. We closed the shutters but whilst we were at dinner they were opened so not much privacy.

Food was excellent and if you are allergic/or don't like anything please tell them when you arrive as they can prepare something different for you.

Room was cosy but a little overcrowded with furniture although the headboards were in need of replacing. Beds were comfy though even 3 pillows still weren't enough!

Hotel on a steep/sharp incline, bus stops are only a 5 min walk away and buses were every 10 minutes. Chillion Casle about a 15 min walk away.

Riveria card given to you upon arrive which was very well used as you can hop on and off as many buses as you like!

Definately would stay there again but not in room 11 as I like my privacy!

Room Tip: If you like your privacy on a balcolny, don't have room 11!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Hotel Masson for a week as part of an Inghams Holiday, because we wanted an old-style Hotel in a quiet area, and we got both.
The hotel has creaky floorboards, old bed headboards, and an old fashioned outlook to service.
The staff were extremely helpful to every request, and nothing was too much trouble.
The Hotel is in a superb position overlooking Lake Geneva, and the local bus runs every ten minutes into Montreux, using a free pass supplied by the Hotel.
The food was excellent, with home made bread and jams for breakfast, and a set, but varied menu for dinner.
One word of warning however.
The hotel is situated up a stiff, 5 minute walk from the bus stop, and if you have any heart or breathing problems, it might be advisable to look elsewhere.
I would recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the garden.
