We took the train to Montreux and dragged our luggage to the hotel as we thought it wasn't very far. We regretted it as the path was cobbly and it went uphill and downhill for about 15 mins. Should have taken a cab... The hotel was located near the casino and lake, which was nice. There was also a mall nearby where we can stock up on groceries if needed. We took walks along the lake between the hotel and train station frequently as it was really quite scenic.

The reception was nice and informed us free wifi was available in the lobby. Unfortunately it didn't work on my iPhone despite at least 2 employees helping me with it. Maybe it was just my phone as my friend's Samsung had no problems.

The room was not large although we had a small balcony, the furniture looked aged and the carpet looked worn. The toilet was small too and the shower head was placed at a very awkward angle in the tub. It assumes that people shower sitting in the tub which I find a very awkward position personally.

Breakfast was provided in a very nice dining room with the standard breakfast fare of bread, fruits, cereal and hams. The hotel also gave us a card which offered free bus local rides which was really appreciated when we took the bus to see Chillon Castle.

This Hotel is well situated in the centre of Montreux, but is in need of renovation. The room and bathroom were adequate, but old fashioned and noise is a problem. There was no air conditioning and it was too hot to keep the windows closed so we were woken by very noisy building work in the next-door chapel every morning. The breakfast was fine and the staff were helpful and polite.

Room Tip: A room with a view of the Lake will also have noise from the street.

We stayed in Montreux on July 21, 2012. Our room, as reserved, had a splendid lake and mountains view, with a small balcony (that would accommodate a table and two chairs) .There was an art exhibition at the lobby level - paintings, statues - a beautiful setting. The dining room, were we had breakfast was very spacious and again with asuperb view. The room was clean, rather small, and so it was the bathroom - but we expected this. Quiet. Clean. The parking - for a fee - was taking care of by the receptionist. Efficient. We would like to mention his name - Bogdan - and thank him for making our stay so enjoyable. The hotel gave us free bus tickets to Chateau Chillon - which we visited and it was very interesting.

walking distance to a lot of places, i even walked to the castle on the lake.

Service and breafast was good. Rooms were a good size. However it needs a good reno. Patchy painting job, lights barely hanging on the walls, and opening the free standing cupboard was like in a hunted house. I was scared that my goods were going to go missing as i walked down the corridor and seeing a room that looked like a junky flat, in the end i think it was a maid/laundry room, still dont know, but not the best look.

The main thing i didnt like was all the tables sitting at the front entrence were everyone is smoking at. You have to walk through a thick cloud of smoke everyday before getting into the hotel. They need to move this.

This hotel conveniently located in centre of Montreux. Rooms are quite large, although a bit outdated and modestly furnished. Breakfast was ok. Checking-in and checking-out was easy with assistance of friendly staff.

The Hotel's best days are long gone. Our room was at the end of a long corridor, around which were old rooms padlocked up, wires exposed, ceiling rotten, bathrooms and toilets for use in the days before en suite, old and grubby.
On the positive side the room was large, spotlessly clean, with a comfy bed. All the essentials in place. The staff were friendly, breakfast good. If the hotel hadn't looked like it was about to be condemned, it would have been fine.
Why oh why do hotels make wifi so restricted, come on!

This hotel does not have the most promising aspect from the street, but once you climb the red-carpeted stairs the main receptions rooms are actually very grand. It must have been quite impressive in its hey day, and has managed to retain the charm of yesteryear without coming across as old or tired.

Walking distance from the station, close to the lakeside promenade (once you find your way around the Casino which sits between the hotel & the lake), walking distance (up a very, very steep hill) to the old town.

Rooms are basic but comfortable, include minibar, TV with every channel imaginable (including all the UK channels), free wifi but it only works in the lobby (signal doesn't even make it to the breakfast room). Breakfast was good (nice croissants and great cheese).
