Owner description: From the Rochers-de-Naye, towering at an altitude of 2,042 meters, you can enjoy an amazing view on the lake and the mountains. Get to this peace of heaven with the cog railway leaving from Montreux. Many activities as well as two restaurants, an hotel and Mongolian yurts will give real pleasure to adults and children all the year long.

We took the train halfway up and the did the via ferrata to the top. The train also supports mountain bikers and paragliders. The views of Montreux, the lake and the mountains are spectacular.

This is worth every penny. Although we went went on the jazz train during the festival, you can take the same trip outside of this. Stunning scenery like you've never seen with a good cafe at the top. You will be amazed. There is an alpine garden and marmet sanctuary.

I am a sucker for a good view and will take a train or gondola to a mountaintop any time - I therefore have to use my kids' reaction to these activities as a true guage. They really enjoyed this one which is really all about the train ride itself (views and dramatically changing scenery) and the marmots at the top. Snack facilities at the top are average at best and the path to the actual summit was still snow-covered in places but easy to navigate. The marmot sanctuary is fun, and there is a hotel and Yurts at the top if you are so inclined (we would have tried it but pre-booking was required). The fact that the rail line follows a ridge which makes up the rhone-rhine watershed was wasted on the kids, but I thought it was cool...

Great scenery on the train up, corkscrewing up the mountain. The views from the top of the lake are amazing. Check the webcams before going because we were surprised by the snow cover at the end of June. The paths up the final sections looked very steep and exposed, The paths around the station area were largely covered in snow and workmen were trying to clear them. The Alpine garden was not yet open. Needed winter clothing at top! Marmots easy to see. Train was punctual. You can get off part way and take the Glion funicular down for variety.
