“Impeccable Service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2012

From the train station to the hotel, expect an uphill trek. You need transportation, unless you are backpacking and traveling light. A short walk from the hotel leads to scenic Lake Geneva.

I arrived early, and my room wasn't quite ready. However, upon arrival, all guests receive an offer of coffee, tea or wine. I enjoyed my no charge glass of wine, and pleasantly endured a very short wait before I could rid myself of my luggage. I also received a free bus pass, good throughout my stay, which came in handy the day I left, to return to the train station. By the way, the design of Swiss buses makes taking luggage on and off easy.

Clearly thought out hotel policies provide guests with niceties that create an "I'm special" feeling. Stellar place to stay. One drawback, if you expect to eat at your hotel, the restaurant has limited selection, clearly pointed out by the staff.

Someone booked the rooms for me so after a hearty walk up the hill found a quirky hotel in the middle of the old quarter, very friendly welcome and clean comfortable rooms - not much in the way of amenities but then this is Montreux and plenty to do elsewhere

Room Tip: Hotel reception / bar closes at 11.00 so dont get there late or ring ahead

The room was very good, in a modern little hotel. Reception personnel not as hospitable as was expected. The uphill to the hotel is near impossible, especially with any sort of luggage - a taxi is to be advised, but we weary of them taking advantage.

We arrived at the hotel, by car, parking is available, offered a glass of wine on arrival, then shown to our room on the second floor, very pleasant decor, we overlooked the street and there is a certain amount of road noise, but nothing to complain about, several restaurants are located in walking distance and the hotel is close to a very pleasant walk up the Gorge

We were supposed to stay one night in April but there was an error with our booking and we were moved to another hotel without notice.
However, we wrote to the owner/manager Pauline Laurent and during a series of very nice emails we were able to come to an amicable outcome and recompense for the inconvenience the unexpected move "downhill" had caused us.
Pauline wrote lovely emails and now the episode is concluded, we hope one day to stay at the Tralala and could not have found a more customer-oriented owner/manager who did her utmost over a series of months to satisfy the client. We know this hotel rates Excellent and now we have solved our problem we want travellers to know that even though we experienced problems, the hotel was A-1 in resolving the matter.

Many thanks Pauline.

This hotel was beautiful and quirky and modern. They offered a glass of wine when I arrived, and my corner room (308) looked out on the town and lake. Beautiful hotel!

I, like many other reviewers, underestimated the uphill climb to the hotel. But once I arrived, the reception and room made me forget any discomfort!

Hotel stay May 2009, 2 nights.

My boyfriend stayed here with his parents in May 2009 after coming off a night train from Prague. We had room 405 that included many windows and a couple of balconies. The parents had room 404 which was definitely a smaller room and only one window. They both had views out the front and ours to the side as well with great mountain views. Both rooms were cute and clean with an adequate bathroom. Our shower did not really want to drain in 405 though which was kind of annoying given the 6" lip on the stall almost was not enough.

The breakfast was good and the croissants were tasty. It looked like you could order eggs but we just stuck with what was provided.

The hotel was good about ensuring we got (in the mail) the little card that enabled us to use the buses. That way we did not have to walk up the hill with our luggage, so that was convenient but it's something to ask about.

If I went back to this area I would stay here again. Hotels are not inexpensive in this area but we felt this was a good value for what we got.

Room Tip: Ask for corner room
