“Comfortable way to travel”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

A cruise on the lake Leman is adequate with high summer températures. Choose the steam ship LA SUISSE which is one of the most beautiful historic boats in the world. Built in 1910 it has been completely renovated in 2009. The dining room is exceptional.

“Wonderful cruise dinner”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

I actually reserved the CGN for a company business dinner. It was fantastic and our visitors from Australia really enjoyed the cruise. The service was excellent and the food (catered) was very good. The view during the Sunset was fabulous with Mont Blanc in the background.
It was well Worth it and I recommend it.

“Must do”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

The boat ride between Lausanne and Montreux is a must-do. The view on the Alps, the lake and the Lavaux vineyards is fantastic and very different from one you have from the road. During the nice season, the older paddle boats are out and they are part of the beautiful experience.
Don't hesitate to pay the extra fee to be on the 1st class deck: relaxing chairs are available there and it's less crowded.

“Wonderful experience.”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

We took the 'La Suisse' from Montreux and did the round trip. We had spent time looking this up beforehand and knew we wanted to be on the top deck on the deck chairs. To do this you have to pay first class but it's worth the chf70. You get three hours on e boat which is typical belle époque and has been kept to an amazing standard. The engines can be seen working and in pristine condition and are an incredible sight.
The benches are cushioned on this deck and there are several deck chairs. It was very hot the day we went but there was a welcome breeze. There are waiting staff that come out and take orders for whatever you want. I wish we had eaten lunch in the restaurant as the food looked so fresh and the price was comparable to a Montreux restaurant.
The whole boat is in top condition and really is a piece of history. The views are mind blowing, we had to pinch ourselves that we were actually there. From Montreux you travel down to Lausanne and pass the sculptured vineyards that you don't see from the road. On the other side you are up close to the luscious green mountains and stop at small towns. We really liked the look of St Gingolph and went there the next day by car on the way back from Evian. There is a lot of history there and worth a trip or stop. It is as they say half Swiss and half French so don't forget to take some euros too if you go.
I will never forget the trip, it gives you another perspective of the lake and fantastic memories.

“A must do on the Swiss Riviera”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

We did the 'once around the end of the block' trip, Montreux, Gingolph, etc and back to Vevey. Then one way to Lausanne and back on the train, for the experience. We got BOGOF on the second.
If you've got the dosh and time a lunch or dinner trip would be excellent. The paddle steamers are really lovely. Get's a bit windy though, take a sweatshirt. d'Ouchy below Lausanne is worth a visit (Olympic HQ is there) very pretty and posh. Really nice cafes and restaurants on the front. Including the house Byron wrote the Prisoner of Chillon. Nice outing. Enjoy
