Another reviewer said "an average old church." I, however, went to hear Mozart's Requiem and it was more than Splendid. European churches can seem old, dank, and basically dead, but if you can visit during a concert the place comes alive and the walls, organ and stain glass windows can speak to your heart and soul. Take more time and visit during a concert and the place will come alive and fill you with joy (unless you're an atheist and you might prefer the nearest Starbucks).

We only considered visiting the cathedral as we were in Lausanne on a public holiday weekend and there was next to nothing open or to do. We had seen many cathedrals already on our travels through Europe but this one took us by surprise in its own right. Apart from its architecture which is worthy of attention, the church tower is what we loved the most. Pay a small donation to climb the tower (note: lots of windy medieval stairs) it is well worth the incredible view at the top! (providing it is a clear day)

This old roman cathedral is very impressive and really worth visit! It situated on to of the hill with beautiful views on the city and the Leman lake. It possesses one of the most beautiful stained glass windows I have seen in a church! If you can, climb the tower, it's only 5 francs per person and the view is even better from up there!

A must for those who are into history and architecture. Walk up to top of the main tower and enjoy views of the city, the lake and the alps.

This is a very important European Cathedral, perhaps not the biggest but its architecture is sublime. The stained glass windows count as some of the best anywhere which is good because there no art whatsoever inside it being now and has for some time been a Protestant building, this is slightly odd as it it is still called Notre Dame and the remains of Mary Magdalene ended up here after a very long and fascinating journey. The bells are well worth listening to though and there still is a crier. The organ is recent but divine sound belches out of its pipes. You will want to use the metro which used to be a funiculaire if approaching from the idyllic lakeshore of Ouchy which is one of the best spot on the coast for Lausanne is very very steep. However for the brave the walk up to the Cathedral is beautiful taking you past many old buildings and some very good restaurants.
