Hotel Elite is a reasonably priced (for Lausanne) hotel within walking distance from the main train station, although if you have two large packs, three other pieces of luggage and a toddler in a stroller like we did, the steep hill is HARD work. You can either climb the stairs or walk a little further and go on the road, either one will require you to take a breather at the end. The staff were very helpful, both in writing during the booking process and whilst were were staying. On our last night our daughter was ill and we needed to get her clothes laundered before we left the following day. The manager helped us locate a laundry that provided service washes and organised everything over the phone for us as my French wasn't good enough to communicate with the proprietor. The superior room was a little crowded but that was mainly due to most of the spare floor space being taken up by the cot. But it was very clean and the balcony was just lovely and even though we weren't high enough to have a view of Lake Geneva the view of the surrounding gorgeous buildings made up for it. I should also mention that there is parking available, not that we needed it, but in a city where they "lock" private parking spaces this is a huge advantage. The breakfast was very nice and there are plenty of good places to eat close by. For a snack you can't go past the delicious offerings at the Delifrance just down the road.

The hotel is close to the station yet in a quiet area ideally placed for the old town. The hotel is pretty basic but clean and good value. A good place to stay to explore the city though a bit of a walk to the Lakeside. However there are plenty of buses to take you there and back.

From most aspect of our stay I would normally have gave this hotel a 5 star (excellent) rating, except for one important thing -
their business practice.

I made the reservation with a credit card confirmation 7 months ahead of time, with the reply confirmation clearly stating that it's for a minisuite. I also made inquiries about restaurants at Lausanne as it was our wedding anniversary and the staff was very responsive and helpful in making reservations at the restaurant.

When we showed up for our reservations I was told that there's "a problem with the room". The receptionist proceeded to gave us an option of either a triple room (1 room with 3 beds), or 2 rooms. As we had a young child with us the non-connecting 2 rooms was not an option. I then asked what the 'problem' was with the room. Turns out a guest decided to extend their stay and the hotel decided that bumping us was the right thing to do.

I understand that from a business standpoint it's more lucrative for them to NOT honor our reservation and to extend the other guest's stay. I just had a problem that they didn't disclose the reason until I asked and that only then they offered a discount on the triple room. They had my email address and they could have contacted me prior so that I can have a chance to switch to another hotel.

The physical aspects of the room was excellent. Loved the bed, the decor, the balcony, the bathroom. Just wished that my anniversary day wasn't marred by this experience.

In sum while the facilities are nice, there's no guarantee that you'll get what was reserved. To their credit at least they didn't outright lie and say that the plumbing didn't work at the room or something equivalent.

Hotel Elite is a nice mid-price hotel for Switzerland. It is very close to the train station but it is true that you will either be climbing stairs or a rather steep hill to get there if walking. So if you aren't able or willing to do that then catch a quick cab. It is also a short walk to the darling city center. Our room (26) was on the second floor, very spacious and clean but the decor was very 70s as opposed to other rooms that had the typical french decor. The balcony was nice and as stated the duvets are wonderful. However, if you are used to thicker pillows just ask for extras at the front desk.
My only major negative was the breakfast. It was a typical European spread and we didn't mind that, but one of the people that we were traveling with found ants in their cereal and promptly notified the person in charge of the food. They said they knew and then offered him some cereal from an open bag in the cabinet, but did not remove the canister from the breakfast spread. Two to three other guests took cereal from the canister and we could not stomach it. Needless to say, we skipped breakfast the next morning. I asked for a comment card at check out but they had none. I didn't want to make a scene with three or four people standing around. This is a nice hotel but I hope the ant problem was just an isolated incident.

We stayed in the Hotel Elite for our two nights in the Lausanne area. The hotel was clean, well appointed, and relatively spacious. Our room had a lovely balcony, and we were able to open the door to breathe the wonderful fresh air. The hotel is centrally located, and it is easy to reach from the main train depot. Yet, it is nestled into a quiet, residential/business street, making for very restful evenings. We were able to walk to all key sites in the city, including Ouchy, the shopping district, and the train depot. The breakfast was generous and nicely served. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and accomodating. Given the price point, this hotel exceeded our expectations.

A friend and I booked this hotel after reading the reviews and were not disappointed. Its not as a modern, nor as classic, as might be in some cases. However, the hotel was meticulously clean, the bedding was phenomenal (I was missing the quality of my duvet at home by the time we got to this hotel) and above all, the staff were fantastically helpful. Anything that I requested, they were very accommodating at providing, from extra pillows to tea in the middle of the night.

We were upgraded to a corner suite on the top floor that looked out over the lake and the mountains, with a spacious sitting area and a balcony where we could relax and watch the scenery. The small garden was peaceful and lush.

The location, being minutes from the station and right at the beginning of the downtown core of Lausanne, was perfect for us to explore. If I were to return to Lausanne there is absolutely no doubt in mind that I would use this hotel again.

The Elite Hotel Lausanne is situated 5 Minutes walk from the main train station. The Hotel is a bit difficult to find as it is hidden in a quite area. If you are going by car, better print out the map from the Hotel website. We got lost and were looking for one hour to find the direction. The parking in front of the hotel is free.

We stayed three nights at the Hotel Elite in Lausanne. It is a charming little hotel with a personal touch. All rooms are non smoking. We had one of the cheaper standard rooms. They are quite small but comfortable. The room was bright and super clean; the bed of good quality with a decent mattress; the bathroom spotless with a bathtub and shower; modern fittings; probably recently redone.

The breakfast is excellent with different sorts of bread, cold cuts, cheese and muesli. There is no restaurant in the hotel. The minibar prices in the room are affordable and not those of the usual rip-offs often practiced by hotels.

Internet is payable, but cards with short duration were sold out; fortunately the next internet coffee is just a few steps away.

The hotel is centrally located. There are many restaurants in walking distance. The main shopping area is 10 minutes away, but you have to climb a very steep hill.

The reception staff was very helpful and gave competent advice. We enjoyed our stay and can strongly recommend this place.
