“One of the world's best hotels”

A great setting, I advise getting a lakeview room. Dine at the outdoor Beau-Rivage patio. They made the kids whatever they wanted. Very high quality food.
Walk along the lake pathway or metro (simi-subway) up the hill to town.

Great pools and healthclub. Friendly roomservice.
Simply one of the best places in the world for older kids and parents. Plenty for everyone to do. Without kids it would remain one of the best hotels in the world.

I first stayed in this hotel in 2006 and thus expected a great experience. If anything this stay was better than the first save for the fact we had only two days to wake up to that beautiful lake view. The main dinning room has wonder food, great service and is a near perfect place for a romantic dinner.

This is the kind of hotel I seek in my travels, but so rarely find. It breathes history, yet is renovated tastefully modern. It hosts extensive public areas (lobby, bar, terrace, pool), yet it retains an intimate touch. There is a fantastic view, yet you are right downtown. There is only one downside: the training level of the service staff does not correspond with the price level.

We stayed at the Beau Rivage for a week in May for a corporate event. It was slightly last minute, so I was not sure what type of place it would be.

Was I EVER impressed. The hotel is spectacular. It is located beside Lake Geneva with extraordinary views of the lake. When you enter the hotel, there is a terrace in at the enterance. That terrace has a great view of the lake and the staff at the terrace are very accomodating and do everything in their power to accomodate.

The rooms were large for European standards. The room came with wireless and cable internet options, iPod hook up, TV, jetted tub/shower, mini-bar, big closet and drawers, electronic blinds, desk and hair dryer. The beds were very comfortable to sleep in. The only issue that I had with the room is a minor one. It did not contain a bedside clock or alarm.

We had lunch at the Beau Rivage Cafe and spent quite a bit of $$ there, but it was hands down the best meal we had during the week.

The staff that handled the corporate event seemed very well organized, capable and accomodating. I did not see one thing out of place during any of the corporate events.

There are two pools at the hotel, one is indoor and one is outdoor. Both were well maintained and fantastic to sit by during the day. The fitness center is located nearby and was slightly small, but it was efficient.

All in all, I would strongly recommend the Beau Rivage if you are looking for something comfortable, convenient and almost majestic in feeling.

My husband and I recently stayed at Beau Rivage Palace for four nights in a superior room with a lake view. We almost cancelled our trip but we are very glad we didn't. It was the best hotel we have stayed at (having stayed at various other leading hotels of the world).

We arrived 2 hours earlier than the check in time due to our train arrival times. We were given complimentary champagne on the terrace until our room was ready.

The hotel and grounds alone are stunning. The view of Lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps from our room was magical. Staff were very helpful and not snobby at all. The swimming pool area had two heated swimming pools and a jacuzzi. We relaxed by the poolside for two days. Gym is small but sufficient to work out.

Room was roomy and comfortable with a small balcony. Bed was extremely comfortable. Bathroom was big but shower is quite small. Great complimentary Bulgari products.

Breakfast is reasonable. We ate at Anne-Sophie Pic for dinner. Amazing meal!

Overall best hotel we have been to. We had such a special time that we have decided to go back very chance we can. It is expensive but worth it.

Just back from 3 nights at the Beau Rivage.

This luxury hotel is pure perfection.

Welcomed with a smile, kind comments and friendly attitude. 3 days of complete pampering.

Everything was perfect. The room, impeccable. The service, flawless. A true 5 star luxury palace.

I was a little wary about the hotel being "snobby" after reading some other reviews on tripadvisor.

Indeed in a luxury palace with rooms running 1000$ a night, the other clients were certainly wealthy individuals.

I suppose the interaction you have with others depends on your own behaviour (if you are, for example, noisy brash and obnoxious I can imagine you may get a snobbish or condescending attitude as a reply).

We encountered nothing but considerate, kind behaviour from the staff, with a smile and friendly demeanor, exactly as we would expect from a true 5 star establishment.

After the lovely, professional and kind treatment we received I find it hard to believe that someone would be "snobbed" by the staff from the beginning... unless his own behaviour was so obnoxious that no other reply was possible.

And I must point out we arrived in a rented budget Kia station wagon and parked next to a Bentley and a Rolls with not a sign of condescension from the doorman.

This is a true noble palace, wonderful for playing princess for a few days if you can afford the high prices.

The hotel is perfectly located on the Lake in Lausanne, beautiful setting, but across from the metro station which will take you to the animated old town, and several local restaurants are withing easy short walk (including a japanese and several brasseries).

You can walk to the old town and all around Lausanne. You can go for a wonderful walk or jog in the morning on the lake front and pass in front of the beautiful mansion homes on the lake in Pully and Lutry.

You can spend the afternoon at the hotel tennis court or gorgeous indoor-outdoor swimming pool and spa.

We are not night-owls and we enjoy QUIET after 10 pm... Here we were in heaven! No noise at all during the evening and night. Total calm, total quiet for a wonderful peaceful stay.

A few tips:

- Rates on their website can be up to 70% lower than rates you get if you call on the phone... use the website for booking!

- do NOT go to the hotel's "Brasserie Beau Rivage" restaurant - very poor price/quality. Especially avoid the foie gras and the lamb "chawarma" entrée if you must go. Stick with traditional steak-fries. The Japanese restaurant was quite good and the next-door Italian restaurants (affiliated with Beau Rivage) was exceptionnally good.

- Yes, breakfast is expensive at 46 CHF and it is not a Las Vegas style buffet with eggs benedict and all you can eat lobster. It is a tasteful assortment of the freshest local produce and specialties, served in a lovely setting. (You can, of course, order eggs anyway you want, perhaps people don't know this!) If you can't afford the 46 francs, either go out or don't stay here but don't complain about it! Only in America will you find a 3$ breakfast special with all you can eat eggs, pancakes and bacon with free coffee refills. You are in Switzerland so adapt.

Overall, a wonderful true luxury 5 star experience I would recommend to anyone for a short break.

We left feeling we hadn't stayed long enough.

One of those hotels where the moment the bedroom door is opened and you catch the first climpse you know everything is going to be perfect.

Our room was 552 (Superior lake view) and its nice but it doesn’t rely on its Bulgari amenities, or its flat screen TVs, copious flower arrangements or fruit presentations to create a wow factor when it presents us with such a view of natural beauty.

The view from the two terraced windows across the lake to the mountains above Evian is simply incredible. It epitomises romanticism and lends itself to whiling the time away on the balcony chatting (perhaps over a Roderer) watching the world go by.

I would thoroughly recommend a walk along the promenade which hugs the lakeshore in front of the hotel or perhaps catching one of the lake steamers as a means of hopping on and off to explore many quaint villages in the area.

In the evening try the Café Beau Rivage (set menu good value at €60 each). When we made our room reservation a few months back we were given the opportunity to reserve a table at the Michelin starred Ann Sophie restaurant. I overlooked this until arrival and believe me you couldn’t get a table for love or money on the Saturday and on Sunday it was closed. This was a mistake but we now have a good excuse to plan a return visit.

I could find little to fault the hotel and would highly recommend the Beau Rivage Lausanne to friends.
