“The most challenging and moving collection I have seen in a good while.”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

Nothing to dislike. An beautifully arranged and correctly lit art museum. The painters come from a particularly difficult background. Many had / have mental health issues. Their work can be haunting, but one can say that the work of nearly all the artists were technically impressive, in some cases wonderful and all were very moving. Had I money and were the works for sale I would purchase many works from the collection.

“Unique museum”
Reviewed May 27, 2014

Very interesting thematic exhibitions, e.g. lately on cars & other transportation means. An ideal museum for a visit with kids (min. 6-8 years old). The level of detail achieved by these often deranged artists is striking.

“This is a one off. A rare and unusual treat”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

AS far as I know this is the only art gallery in the world devoted to artists from history completely outside the mainstream. Strange isolated figures often with mental health difficulties who have produced truly memorable works.

“Always interesting!”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

The Art Brut is really unique (never heard of any other gallery/museum) like this.
Just because it is art of not-schooled-artists, doesn't mean it's not great pieces!
There are always many different expositions and they change fairly often so you are sure to find something that captivates you.

“Unique and fascinating museum”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

Well worth the uphill walk from the station! This museum is fascinating and unusual collection. Definition of Art Brut is not clear, but basically seems to be art by mentally ill or disturbed. The collection is extensive. Of course it is very mixed, but some of it is really good. Worth visiting either if you are interested in art, or in mental illness (or both).
