“Good hotel but expensive”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

Stayed for 3 nights in November because of studies at IMD which is closeby. The location is in that way very good, and I was lucky to have a room with a view to Geneva Lake. Room was fine, but the first night was too hot in the room, aircon was very noisy and to open the window was not an option because of the street noise. Next nights was much better somehow. Service was excellent and breakfast was good. Strange that birds was flying around the restautant?
I guess swiss hotels just are expensive (first time in Switzerland) but I think this was really expensive.
All in all, very good hotel with excellent service, but also expensive.

Standard meals but consistently good. Nothing amazing. Staff were very accommodating for our toddler and arranged smaller portions of adult meals.

Our family of 4 (2 x kids - 2.5years and 2 months old) stayed here in July when we relocated form NYC to Lausanne. Obviously a huge leap, from New York to the small-town charm of Lausanne, but we've lived here before, and were prepared for a transition.

The hotel had been renovated since our last experience, and is very clean though the style is very simple, the rooms are bright and pleasant (we overlooked the harbour....ask for this if possible) and the staff were overall, very helpful and efficient. We had 2 x interconnecting rooms, one with a King bed, and one with 2 x queens. Although on a busy road, with windows closed at night, it's very quiet.

Clearly, staying in a hotel for 2 weeks at the height of summer, awaiting furniture for a new home can be challenging at the best of times, but with 2 x children, one of them a newborn(!)...well let's say we were glad it was over by the end of our stay!

However, for short visits and vacations, it's an excellent location, close to 2 x supermarkets, a bakery and many restaurants and small shops. It's a very touristy area of Lausanne, so there are always many people about. There is a children's playground across on the lake shore, and a carousel too! The Lausanne Metro starts right in Ouchy, and you can travel to the centre and top of Lausanne in minutes. So easy to get around, and saves a long, hard walk up Lausanne's notorious inclines!

It's a popular business hotel, so it can be very crowded in the lobby, and lifts can take a while to arrive. We mostly had room service or ate out, though the brasserie had good food and a playroom for children. The hotel has access to a VERY small, privately run carpark underneath it. It's very expensive, and is always full. I would suggest using an underground carpark across from the hotel, or an even cheaper one outdoors further along the lake. In fine weather, a stroll is not a problem, but when it's raining or snowing, the underground parks are clearly more convenient.

If necessary, I would stay here again, or recommend to others. It's nothing amazing, and quite expensive for it's standard, but everything in Switzerland is!

The location is excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking Lake Geneva

Stayed there for one week on an IMD seminar. Rooms are average in size and comfort but for a business trip, that is honestly all one wants. Rooms are clean, housekeeping does a good job. Internet works. So far a good business hotel. For that level of service, I would have expected slightly lower prices (around CHF 200 per night max). Breakfast is a weak point. Showed up at 06.20h one morning and breakfast was not ready even though they had opened already. Then, the next day, birds were flying through the room (small sparrows). From a hygiene point of view, a bit questionable. Anyhow, as I say in the title, average place, next door to IMD so very ideal for a seminar, but a bit too expensive for what you get.

When I booked I didn't chose the Lake View option, so my room had no view at all. I aske to change and I was given a room facing the Lake Leman (CHF 20.00 extra a night), which is very beautiful.
The room is very big, new, the bed is very comfortable and we even asked for thinner pillows which were promptly sent.
The breakfast has two buffets to choose from, one continental and one complete. But you can also order à la Carte.
The hotel is very close to Ouchy Metro station, which is very helpful. We received a complimentary Public transport card.
The internet is charged, but as it is a Swisscom hotspot you don't need to buy the 24 hour period. There are a lot of different connection options in the Swisscom login page, and they can be used on other hotspots in Switzerland, Don't forget to log off!!

Room Tip: Make sure to choose Lake View on your reservation.

This was the only chain hotel on our trip, and we were pleasantly surprised by the service and value. First, it's RIGHT on the waterfront, which is so nice. There's a lot to do with kids. When we arrived they immediately upgraded us to a junior suite for some reason, which was incredible to have with a toddler. It was a lot of space, even by American standards. We had our space and he had his quiet area for sleeping. Like all Swiss hotels, it was very clean. They also immediately brought in a baby bed when we asked. Though it's on a busy street, we didn't hear anything with the windows closed, even motorcycles, but we were on the top floor. Parking was easy, though not free, and basically just across the street. We'd stay here again!

The location is good indeed, but that's it. Not sure if it generally in Switzerland or just in this hotel, but there is no value for money. The hotel needs refreshment, it is tired. When we came for the first time there was a wedding reception.. in the reception! Lots of people, crowded and loud
Many employees in the reception are interns and have no idea of what is going on. Some of them however are friendly and can suggest many interesting places to visit also in France.
Breakfast is good.
The center is in a walking distance.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms
