Having stayed at quite a few other hotels in Zermatt before, this was our first attempt at the Omnia and it will not have been our last one. Booked the Matterhorn Suite and were very, very happy with the layout. Since we stayed for almost 2 weeks, the enormous wardrobe was a big plus. Despite the "bang in the middle of town" location, it is very quiet and you can easily sleep with the windows open since the hotel sits atop a small hill, accessed through a tunnel and elevators. Lovely library with open fire, great breakfast and cool SPA with an outdoor jacuzzi with unobstructed view of the Matterhorn.

Picked up by electric car at Zermatt station and driven into James Bond style entrance at the bottom of the hotel. We had a corner suite which was very modern and comfortable - large lounge, 3 terraces and 2 bathrooms! Restaurant was very good. What made this hotel were all the little touches - really useful toiletries, sheepskin blankets for the terrace, condoms in the bedside cabinet and complementary decanter of bourbon - perfect after a hard days walking. Couldn't fault it although the beds are memory foam type which won't be for everyone.

We've been to Zermatt a couple of times but somehow never stayed at the Omnia. This was a mistake. Our Suite was very spacious and stylish, we had a large balcony with an un-obstructed view of the Matterhorn, the living room came with a very comfortable bed, a separate dining table and a well appointed bar. The bedware was changed twice a day (!).. Ample storage space even for people like us who stay for 2 weeks and bring a lot of clothing and gear.
Breakfast is a treat, the outdoor jacuzzi too and they got a small Gym with 4 TechnoGym machines, all with TV. SPA is small but pretty good. Big library, extensive DVD selection, free WiFI all round - and a lovely lounge with a fireplace for pre and post dinner cocktails.

We spent three nights at the Omnia in September. This was a last minute booking for both the hotel and the location. We arrived in the late evening and it was such an oasis -- we were offered champagne when we arrived, made sure we were fed and happy and relaxed. Service was excellent, food was excellent. In the morning, the whole valley opened up for us - great views from the room. Had a memorable dinner on our last night there - sorry to leave the place.

Comfortable beds, pristine rooms, awesome breakfast. Not sure if I can criticize anything. Fantastic.

I am a little late with posting this review, but I just wanted to confirm all the positive reviews posted about this place. The Omnia is an outstanding proof that contemporary glass, steel and wood architecture does work in an environment so much dominated by the traditional dark wooden Hans und Gretl chalet type hotels. The Omnia is not only nice to look at, but also spectacular to stay in. You enter the place in true 007 fashion through a long, torch lit corridor "carved" out in the rocks where you take an elevator to the reception. It is almost an insult to use this word for this area, for it is more a very cosy library and lounge area with an open fire place where new arrivals are welcomed by a delicious prosecco (yes, they managed to find a decent one). As The Omnia is built on a slope, guest floors are connected with a maze of staircases and elevators, all made from steel, glass and wood, thus making the corridors and common spaces extremely airy and bright.

The entire hotel is also very clean and a sensation of cleanliness comes over you when wandering about. Maybe it has also to do with the very straightforward, no thrills, nordic design characterising the guest room decoration.

The rooms are very spacious: in fact, our room was more like an apartment: there was a huge living room, a decent size bedroom with tempura mattresses on the kingsize bed, two spotlessly clean bathrooms, Kiehl products in abundancy (I am still using them...) and a balcony running the length of the living area and bedroom: the balcony had a few deckchairs with sheepskins.

We had dinner once in the restaurant which was very, very good and they have an interesting cheese trolley and very good swiss wines. Breakfast was also good, with lots of healthy and tasty items.

The best of all however is the welness center: there is a variety of saunas and steam baths, all equally stunning and to topp this off there is a magnificent large swimming pool, surrounded by dark glass walls, lit by a star ceiling and torches where you can plunge and relax while listening to some nice, quiet music.

I consider the Omnia to be one of these rare hotels that really live up to expectations and offer you a few days of heaven on earth.

Chose this hotel from Design Hotels offerings...did not disappoint from overall design standpoint and choice of furnishings. Loved the cave entrance! The taxi service from train was very nice. As indicated above, everything was done extremely well. Any request was met with a "can do" attitiude. We used the pool/turkish bath/hot tub area every day after long hikes....really appreciated this amenity. Loved that we were encouraged to feel that this was our mountain home for the week, and we did by wearing our robes in the public spaces and also enjoyed the cozy living area with fireplace. Breakfast had beautiful presentation, fresh, varied offerings (yummy museli) as well as cooked eggs to order. Room was spotlessly clean, attended to twice daily...turndown service. Chocolates left as a special treat twice. Location was perfect....walk through the cave entrance and voila, you are in the town. Appreciated that other guests were quiet. I only had one quibble and it was nothing that the staff could have remedied. We did not have a suite, so I have no idea what the shower situation was for others, but our shower was pitifully tight. Seriously, did the contractor read the blueprint correctly? You could not turn around without hitting one of the glass walls. Obviously, I managed to shower, but it was not a pleasant experience. Hubby actually started using the shower in the pool area, as it was in a large space. We loved our vacation in Zermatt and the Omnia was a perfect choice for us.

My family and I are wrapping up our 7 days stay @ the Omnia. Wonderful stay! Great experience all around - wonderful staff - they deserve high fives.

Matterhorn Suite has a lovely view of the Matterhorn, very roomy; our daughter a double deluxe facing the Matterhorn also roomy. Try the restaurant as well - young Chef Mischa Pfeuti offers creative Swiss Cuisine. Hotel also has a wonderful indoor/outdoor pool with a sauna, Turkish Bath etc....lovely way to end the day after a long hike.

Kudos to the architect and artist designer of the Omnia.

I highly recommend the Omnia for service, staff, location and amenities.
