A bucket-list location! Absolutely surreal. Zermatt is cute, though very touristy, with lots of nice restaurants. Be aware, the gondola ride and/or train to a viewing place is very expensive (as is all of Zermatt) -- though well worth it!

I had wanted to see this mountain for so long and finally getting to see it was so fantastic. It is so iconic and constantly changes its appearance with the different lighting and weather. Have a very large SD card loaded in your camera as you won't be able to stop taking phots of it. Great views from the Gonergrat railway, klein matterhorn and from Zermatt to name a few.

The trip to Matterhorn was one of most impressive I already did... maybe just in the same patch than going from Cuzco to Macho Picchu. Colder but the view is breathtaking... in several means.

We had a great day to see the Matterhorn! We went up o Gornergrat and it was magnificent. A little tip on the way back to Zermatt get off at the Rotenboden station and walk down to the glacier lake for some spectacular photos with the Matterhorn reflection in the lake. You can then walk to the Riffleberg station (20 minute easy walk) and pick back up the train to Zermatt.

I was most fortunate this trip. Usually the Matterhorn is shrouded in clouds but on this mid July day the Matterhorn stood out proudly against a cloudless blue sky. Credit and kudos to the Gonergrat cog railway making the trek from the village below so effortless.
