Stay Away

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 26, 2012
Stayed at theis hotel which is near the train station. While the outside is pleasant, the inside looks like it hasn't been updated in 30 years. The beds were hard, the hotel had no amenities [not even a bar of soap] and the dining area in the basement was depressing.
Date of stay: July 2012
Room Tip: All rooms facing front are noisy as they face a main street. We were there on a Saturday night...

Location of the hotel is great, close to the Zermatt station as well as very close to Gogornet station .Luckily for us we had a Matterhorn facing balcony, so first thing in the morning the mountain is at sight ...our room was very comfortable, cozy and very clean.
There is a swimming pool and sauna as well , which is fantastic

Overall its good value for money and if given a chance would definately go and stay there again

Room tip: When booking ask for a Matterhorn facing room

Our 28 hours in Zermatt cost more than our two nights/three days in Florence, Italy. Typical of Switzerland though. The location was convenient to train station but on the opposite end of the center of town. The kids enjoyed the newly renovated pool. The breakfast was adequate but the selection was not the best. The hotel reminded me of visiting my elderly aunt's house in 1973. The views from the balcony were amazing.

This hotel offers standard hotel room style and apartment style. We stay in the apartment type room which is in C wing. When you go through the door you will be in a narrow walkway which leads to a bedroom on your left and a living room on your right. The living room has a small balcony and can be converted into a bedroom for 2 people with fold-up beds mounted on one wall. There is a small kitchen in the walkway. The furniture is quite old and lack proper maintenance. The unit is roomy if only 2 people stay. With 4 people, you have to manage. But it may be a good choice for someone want to cook their own food.

Have been coming to the Ambassador the same week every year for the past 5 years and it never disappoints. We stay in the apartments which gives us the flexibility to eat in when the kids are tired. The refurb of the swimming pool and sauna area is fantastic. The hotel's location is excellent being near to the train station and the Gornegrat train up the mountain which is also where ski school meets.

Position of Hotel great, close to lifts etc. Yes, the Hotel rooms are dated and tired but still plenty of room and very clean. The swimming pool and sauna area has just been modernised and it is super, modernising the main restaurant this year. The food was fantastic, really 5 star, the staff were wonderful and the main areas very nice. It really is a much underrated Hotel and fantastic value for money. Would go again.

Room tip: Room facing the Matterhorn with balcony, lovely sunshine in the afternoon.
