My family really enjoyed this hotel. The balcony on our room had an amazing unobstructed view of the Matterhorn. The rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. The hotel arranged transportation from the train station. There are lots of places to visit and things to see within walking distance of the hotel. A great experience!

Room Tip: Upper floor with a view of the Matterhorn.

Just stayed one night but we were pleasantly surprised. We chose a less expensive room. Although the decor was a little dated, our room was very warm and clean. The beds were very comfortable with crisp white linen..the bathroom was spotlessly clean.
We had a very good buffet breakfast in the hotel's conservatory which had stunning views of the Matterhorn. The staff were very polite and friendly, and transported us to/from the station without charge. We were very impressed with La Couronne and would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: A room with Matterhorn view would be nice if staying for a few days. These rooms are more expensive but may be worth the extra for the stunning views-cloud permitting! You do get these views from the breakfast room/conservatory though. The hotel has a lift.

After reading the reviews on this site, I was feeling good about booking our three night stay in Zermatt at this hotel. We had limited choice in hotels as we visited at the end of the off-season. This worked in our favour as we were able to get a fairly good rate for a Matterhorn view room. When we arrived we were informed that we had been upgraded to a suite. I have travelled a little bit and have never been upgraded before, so this was very exciting. The room was very clean and spacious with the biggest tv I have ever seen in a hotel (42 inch). The view over towards the Matterhorn was breathtaking.

Breakfast was served in glass conservatory that also provided lovely views towards the Matterhorn. The selection was typical Continental spread, and the staff were very friendly. If you aren't a coffee/tea drinker like me, the hot chocolate is one of the best I have ever had.

I would imagine that most people visit Zermatt to hit the slopes, and the hotel is catered for it. Guests staying at the hotel can get a discount from the friendly staff at Slalom Ski (accessible straight from the hotel), The ski lifts are about a 15 min walk from the hotel. There are lockers up at the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise which are useful for anyone spending a couple of days or more up the mountain. The lockers are also useful for storing your shoes so that you don't have to walk from the hotel to the lift in your ski boots (like we did, which adds at least another 5 mins to the walking time).

The Old Zermatt restaurant was a little pricey, but not unreasonable, and served quality meals. We ate there twice in our short stay and were pleased with both meals and staff.

Checking out was easy (although we didn't want to!) and we opted to walk back to the train station (about 15mins) to take in the beautiful quaint town. All in all it was a wonderful place to stay with some of the nicest staff I have encountered.

Room Tip: The view of the Matterhorn is great to wake up to, If you can afford the extra to get a room with a view, I would highly recommend it. Although not necessary, it adds an element of romance.

This hotel was great, the Porter picked us up at the train station, but on our way home, we walked since it was only a 10 minute walk.

The Staff was very nice, they answered our numerous questions and were always pleasant.

We had a room with a balcony and we had a great view of the Matterhorn. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very good. There were 2 computers that were available to use free.

The location was great, close to restaurants and hiking trails. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony

This was our first trip to Zermatt. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. This hotel is off of the main street and has a great view of the Matterhorn. The breakfast was adequate, staff extremely friendly, and room very accommodating. Centrally located, wonderful views, great stafff. A+++

Room Tip: Try to get a south side room for views of the matterhorn. Steer clear of the hotel restaurant and opt for other local places.
