This hotel offers the lovely alpine charm with some of the opulence you would expect in Zermatt. It is located a stone's throw from the station and it is in the middle of all the action. I stayed in an attic room which was very atmospheric and cosy with its timber cladding. The room was a bit too hot for my liking and the air conditioning didn't seem to work very well, so I had to keep the windows open throughout the night. The bathroom was wonderful with a whirlpool bath tub, rain power shower and double sinks. The room was cleaned every day but the minibar wasn't restocked even once during my 3 day stay, which must have been an omission. The food in the restaurants was quite good, however, the breakfast was not up to usual Swiss standard, with limited options. The Swiss wines on offer were not quite as good as one would expect. The hotel has a cigar area. The smoke from this area is spread across the ground floor through the airconditioning which makes your eyes water. The spa area with in and outdoor pools looks amazing, but I didn't have the chance to try it out myself. The hotel has a lovely outdoor bar/dining area which is a real sun trap in the afternoon. I'd definitely consider staying here, next time I go back to Zermatt.

Room Tip: The attic rooms are very nice, but they can get quite hot in the summer.

Dear Tripadvisor Member,

We very much appreciate your constructive and detailed feedback. We always strive to provide an attentive service, best quality products and facilities and have used your comments in regards to the minibar servicing, the breakfast and the cigar lounge ventilation as a reason of review and improvement. Our rooms though are not equipped with an air-conditioning and we use, as you already did, our “natural air-conditioning”.

Although your experience was not perfect, we really hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to our hotel and to show you that we can do better.

Best regards

I' be been there at March 2013 for a three days trip with my family (2 adults and 2 kids 6years old).
We shared a suite which was a free upgrade. The location of the hotel is perfect. Really in a down town point.
The hotel offers full ski equipment and a very professional concierge service.
There is a fantastic swimming pool and spa area in this hotel.
Breakfast is very nice which offers a lot of choices.
Restaurants of the hotel are really nice.
Concerning the price of the hotel, is really expensive but whenever you decide to visit Switzerland you have to forget your money...

When visiting Zermatt, you know you are going to have to pay heavily so why not go to the best? You will receive a very warm welcome and if possible things get better!

Karin and Kevin Kuntz are always around overseeing things but not being overbearing. It is also very worthwhile being in their company as they are such good fun!

The hotel has everything to the highest standard so book, spend and enjoy!!

Room Tip: Matterhorn view if with the wife or a non skier but if by yourself anyone will do as they are all extremely comfortable and roomy.

Zermatt stands for skiing. Mt Cervin gives you the rest.
They managed to renovate the rooms nicely. They maintained their pricey culinary superiority. The location is splendid. When it comes to management - it should do their homework on dynamic pricing strategy, reception - kind and helpful but not empowered, concierge - messed up some of reservation and appointment but generally ok, ski room- raw, spa - really crowded.
But their biggest strength are Zermatt's skislopes, just imagine what would happen to Mont Cervin when global warming finally proves to be true.
