We stayed at Zermatterhof for 5 nights as a part of a family vacation. We were a group of 6 plus our 1,5 years old nephew and we had 3 double rooms two of which were standard rooms. We were all very pleased with our stay.
When we arrived at the train station the hotel carriage was waiting for us and we arrived at the hotel after a short ride. We were offered welcome drinks which was really great after a long train journey after the plane.
The check-in was very efficient. Our room was a standard room with views of Matterhorn. It was on the first floor and right above the reception. The room was not large but it was enough for us even for 5 nights. There was quite a lot of storage place. The housekeeping service was very good. There was a fresh fruit basket and a small bottle of wine waiting for us in the room. The non-alcoholic drinks at mini bar are free of charge. The turn-down service was very efficient. The bathroom was small however it was very clean. The towels were very comfortable. My only complaint was that our room was very cold and it was also solved quickly with a mobile radiator provided by the housekeeping.
The breakfast was good with lots of varieties and it lasted until 11:00 am which was nice for the three of us who did not go skiing with the rest of the group. One of us had a massage at the spa and was extremely happy with the services. We all used the pool, sauna, steam rooms and the ice room which was fun. The pool area was very clean and had lovely views. A very delicious lavender tea was being served at the relaxation area which was a nice touch.
The hotel staff are very attentive and kind. The concierge worked perfectly for all our requests. They even gave our nephew a lovely little bear as a gift. There was a sleigh available for the baby free of charge which was very useful for us. There is a huge play room available in the hotel which was great for our nephew.
There was free wi-fi in the room and the connection was very good.
We had to leave very early in the morning and our check-out was very efficient. There was a cab waiting for us which was pre-ordered. We arrived at the breakfast area at 07:00 am. The breakfast was ready and we were out in 15 minutes. The lady at the reception gave all of us little bags of water and chocolates for our journey which was a lovely gesture.
We will definitely return...

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the views of Matterhorn.

Excellent service, from the moment you enter the hotel, they know your name, your room, everything about you... They will take care of every aspect of your trip, travel, ski tickets, lunch on the hill reservations, etc.. Excellent SPA... Ski Locker rooms are very convenient and have heated boot dryers in every locker. Electric cabs are waiting for you when you are ready to hit the slopes.. They give you ski conditions, advice, etc... Breakfast is a free buffet every morning - great food, great service... I have absolutely no bad comments. They will upgrade you if you use your Amex Platinum card or if you are a member of the LHW program... Staff is very friendly as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing, although I stayed in both rooms - they are both excellent. Try to ge...

Gorgeous 5* luxury in the heart of Zermatt with views to the Matterhorn. Yes it is expensive, but you really do get what you pay for as it is sumptuously luxurious, with wonderful friendly staff, quiet comfortable rooms, brilliant spa, wellness and fitness facilities and, of course, the most amazing views of the Matterhorn!

I only stayed a weekend, but will definitely be back, next time in summer to try the hiking after I loved the winter break so much.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view, ask for the Matterhorn side, but the other side also has great views...

Very romantic hotel. A bit pricy compared to other hotels in the area. The interieur design is beautiful. The food in the restaurant was delightful and tasty. The hotel is basically situated in the middle of Zermatt and right outside the hotel, you have a choice of bars and restaurants. The hotel staff were very friendly.

I will for sure come back in the summer to walk the areas that i have been skiing during winter.

The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We did not stay in the most expensive room and were NOT treated any different as i have read some accounts. The concierge staff, bell staff and housekeeping couldnt have been nicer to us. Everyday our room had fresh fruit and water and the breakfast buffet carried us until diner. Every request I had was addresed immediatley without having to ask a second time. I especially enjoyed the coordination and professionalism of the resteraunt staff during breakfast, although, the omlette station young man should be a little more outgoing if he wants to work in the service industry. Overall a great property and location. I thougt it was a good value for what the room cost. We stayed in room 411 from 1/14 through 1/20.

Charming hotel in the lovely town of Zermatt. The highlight of our stay was the set menu dinner every night at their restaurant which was absolutely divine! 5 courses of amazing gastronomie!
We also spent the NYE at the hotel and the buffet was among the best I've ever had, absolutely divine!

Rooms are quite old fashioned and not very big but enough to enjoy it.
Service is attentive and polite.

My family and I have been staying at the Zermatterhof for many years now during the ski season and keep coming back, which says something. Ok so it's not cheap, but the service is very good, the rooms comfortable and luxurious in true Swiss style and the food excellent. Don't expect the heights of modernity and minimalism - this is not their style. The hotel has been around for a long time and has a great central position in Zermatt. The spa and pool area, refurbished about 4 years ago or so is now a very nice place to unwind. I would recommend not eating in the main restaurant every night, just because it is rather expensive and albeit a very good meal, a very rich one! You should try it at least once though. The other restaurant, Lusi, is also very good. Less formal (although you wouldn't know it from the room) and the food has a more mediterreanean slant. Tends to be rather quiet though I have noticed so perhaps not the place for you if you want a bit more buzz. There are so many good restaurants in zermatt though so I suggest you just keep your options open. In trying to give a more unbiased opinion, some may find the Zermatterhof too formal and I wouldn't recommend it necessarily for people with young children. But if you are looking for a luxury break as e.g. A couple, I would recommend this hotel.
