I don't usually follow the advice of travel / food articles, because I often think that my high expectations won't be met. Can't say enough about the Findlerhof. The view and location are amazing, the food is outstanding and the service was excellent. We stopped in while skiing and they were willing to squeeze us in for lunch. The lunch was really great and I never cared about how much we paid.

“Best lunch/view/terrace in Zermatt”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013 via mobile

We loved Findlerhof! We had lunch twice on the terrace and the food was as spectacular as the view. Pasta du patron, lamb, steak tartare, sashimi, everything was delicious and just right. Also the way the terraces were on different levels, the place disn't feel crowded at all. It is a bit of a challenge to climb down but definitely worth it. Also the prices of drinks were very reasonable compaired to other much less classy places in Zermatt.

“The best skilunch you can ever have”

Fidlerhof is definately worth a visit if you are in Zermatt area - remember to book in advance. Located in a picturestic "mountain village" with Matterhorn in background, your expectations are high for the food and it does not disappoint you. Friendly service, great and plentifull portions are excellent and the deserts delightfull (try the suprise desert, definately worthwile).

One of the best mountain restaurants of zermatt which offers a panaromic view of the matterhorn due to its perfect location. To top it up It has great terraces, very well prepared choice of dishes and great desserts. The service is great. A truly swiss made.

PS: don't forget to réserve in advance and have lots of money in your Wallet Coz quality comes with a price :)

“The best food on any ski mountain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2013

When an American comes to ski in Europe the biggest difference is not only the many lifts on the mountain but the restaurants. While skiing in Zermatt we had the opportunity to experience lunch that will be remembered always.
We had the pleasure of dining at Findlerhof sharing great wine and a multi course lunch that takes at least 1 1/2 hours. We started with the best mussels I have ever tasted. Simple white wine and thin sliced chilies, coat the small sweet mussels. You could also have them with thin pasta as a main course. Then came a veal chop covered with pink peppercorns and fresh herbs.
I shared a quiche like no other, light, with just the right mix of onions and bacon and a small fresh side salad.
The two owners kept all of the guests happy rushing around serving bottles of wine and beer making sure that each plate was served hot and presented to those waiting like you were the only person in the room.
When you think you can't hold another bite the dessert arrives surrounded with beautiful fresh berries. Remember you are at 8000+ feet and have to ski down to the village.
Don't miss this wonderful experience.
Love Franz, the owners, deer skin pants and vest.
