Description: The sizzling “holzfeuer” is the centrepiece of Le Gitan, creating an immediate warm and welcoming atmosphere at the forefront of the restaurant. You can wet your appetite by watching all the action from your table; our chef prepares all our grills over the wood fire. Specialities include lamb, prawns, beef and spit-roasted chicken tarragon.

Our Hotel recomended Le Gitan. We spent a fantastc evening there. A very warm and cosy atmosphere. The service is very friendly and helpful. The food is just outstanding. Try the venison from the grill. We will be back.

We ended up in Le Gitan because it was advised to us by our hotel and our two first options very fully booked (Julien romatic restaurant and Omnia). Our food was delicious (juicy chicken breast and beef) Service was good and not intrusive. We really enjoyed our dinner there.

Le Gitan was the first place I tasted what Steak is really about!! Age 13 I got in the paper for eating two of their largest steaks with rosti and a glass of milk, and ever since I have been coming back to enjoy what is simply the best food and environment to have a meal. Yes the prices are high but you get what you pay for and more in a town where the prices are high anyway you will thoroughly enjoy the service and personal touch you receive as you walk through the door. A special place for a special evening!

This is the first time I comment a restaurant here. Not because of the food, but because I am so furious about the service. Terrible, and possibly the worst service experienced in switzerland. We walked into the restaurant finding 2 waitresses standing there watching us with their arms crossed, didn't offer us to sit down, and when we asked for a table, just said "wherever you like to sit", still arms crossed, didn't bothered to move. We asked for menu, this mid-age woman gave us 5 Chinese menus. We asked to have 3 English menus instead, and after she gave us, we saw her pulling faces to another waitress.
Since some of us cannot drink alcohol, we simply asked for a jug of tap water. The woman said we will be charged 5 francs for the water. Although we had never been charged for tap water here, we decided we will take that. But the worst part comes in when we confirmed with her that the price was for a jug, not per person, she answered "Yes, yes. Free water is no longer offered in Switzerland." in an annoyed tone. Is that really necessary? What sort of service is that? We were furious. We finished our dinner quick and asked for the bill straight away. This just spoiled the gorgeous Zermatt experience.
Fairly speaking, the food is okay, other than that my ravioli is barely Luke warm, and the main's portion is like appetiser. We had far better food and service at a much better price in Zermatt.
Think twice before you decide to dine there. Or you would find yourself furious like me, typing a comment like this straight after the meal.

Nice food, good meat, 2 or 3 courses but I paid 75 euro which is too much in my opinion. In Breuil- Cervinia is Italian good traditional food and much cheeper!
