“A real must!”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

To see our food being cooked over an open flame was a real experience for us and we were both blown away by the quality of the food and the service. We recommend the local Swiss wine.

“Tasty times ahead”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

We booked this place for dinner on Dec 29th (make your reservation in advance peoples!) to try some traditional fondue. My fifth time here - its always perfectly traditional - a wonderful cozy setting and really tangy fondue.

When you first walk down the stairs to the 'fondue floor' the smell of cheese really, umm, overwhelms you (the only nice way to put it), but it's all part of the experience.

Make sure you order a mixed swiss salad and try some white wine from the valley.

“Charming restaurant”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

This restaurant was recommended by the staff at our hotel Matterhorn Focus as one of their favorite places. As soon as we walked in we felt that we were in one of those places where the locals eat - somewhat rustic, a little dark (it was raining) and comfortable. We ordered leg of lamb for two, and the most amazing thing was that the chef/head guy actually grilled the meat on an open fire right in the dining area. It was probably the best lamb we've ever tasted! And then when we were finished and totally satisfied, the waitress asked us if we were ready for the second half of the serving! Are you kidding me? Still don't know whether she was just teasing us. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.

“Best steak in Switzerland”
Reviewed August 5, 2012

Staying in Zurich? Get on a train and get to Zermatt for dinner at Stockhorn Grill. Very quaint, great value for money and the food is some of the best in Switzerland. The beef and chicken is some of the best I've ever had. Chicken has to be ordered well in advance. We eat there every time we are in Zermatt and send all visitors down to Zermatt (for the skiing or hiking too, of course). Not one person that we've recommended to have dinner there has ever had a bad meal.
