Old fashioned restaurant - lovely atmosphere. Good service and great food. Wine list excellent although quite expensive.

“Never disappoints”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2012

We were distressed to read some of the negative reviews this year before our visit, but the relief washed over us within minutes of entering our all time favourite Zermatt restaurant since its opening in 2000. From Antoinette's warm welcome on arrival, to Roger's cooking behind the scenes (and his extensive wine cellar, if you can afford it!), Le Mazot remains an absolute highlight of any stay in Zermatt. Whether you fall for the speciality lamb or succumb to the venison, we guarantee you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

“not like 10 years ago”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2012

we frequented le mazot for many years up to 10 years ago. service, food and restaurant level was always superb.
we returned last week we were in zermatt and made reservation. the entire dinner was mediocre - service unprofessional, no attention to detail of customers, plates cold, food just ok, overpriced and atmosphere mixed and cheap.

“Good but too expensive”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2012

Honestly, we've been disappointed by this restaurant. Of course the lamb is excellent, but the other things have nothing exceptional and for the price, it should be. The service was like any other restaurant, they couldn't fit more tables in the room,... I don't recommend it for a romantic dinner.
From our dinner, there are two things that I think you should avoid: carpacio (nothing to eat), chocolate mousse (doesn't taste much chocolate like for most of the restaurants).
Anyway, just to say that this restaurant is very expensive for what it is.
