“Average food and overpriced, even for Zermatt”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

Ate here 3 times over 3 years. First experience was not special, but ok. Second year was a miss, but we gave it a another chance one year later, probably because we just really like sushi. Each time, the sashimi was not particularly fresh, and the rest of the food was forgettable. Portion sizes for what you pay are insultingly small. We live in Switzerland and travel to Zermatt at least once per year, so we are accustomed to the cost. Service has been average to good. Wine selection is excellent but expensive.

“Myoko sitting duck”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

We visited this restaurant as a group and as an earlier reviewer also ended up being served very expensive lobster which no one could remember ordering, plus copious amounts of sushi which we were not expecting. A plate of waggu beef, duck, lamb, chicken then followed (we only accepted one piece of beef, duck chicken between everyone). A very clever bit of marketing/oversell but not good for long term business, how do you determine which is a genuine mistake and being ripped off, we live here and would never go back, we had friends visiting Zermatt and they left with a very bad feeling, when you are on holiday you go out with the intention of having a pleasant time and dont want to dampen the experience by constantly complaining.
Our bill ended up 250 chf per person everyone was shocked. Food good quality but very naughty staff. We should have complained at the outset when they served us champagne when we asked for prossecco! You should be able to have a very nice meal here but beware particularly groups!!

“Great sashimi and tempura”
Reviewed March 2, 2014

Having eaten in many Japanese restaurants in Switzerland, this one I think is one above the average. Always book a table. If you want to sit close to the tepanyaki grill, you need to reserve it at least one week before, I believe. We ordered different maki (grilled tuna was average), sushi, tepanyaki and a VERY good selection of sashimi, my vegetable tempura was delicious. Good wine too and nice presentation of food. In fact, the food was so good that we went there again three days later. Unfortunately, tempura equipment was not working and I could not order it again which was quite disappointing. Professional staff, nice waiters, just a feeling that there is a bit too much of supervision....Expensive. By the way - try to book a table upstairs, the atmosphere is much better there.

“Lost my reservation”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

I am pissed. I ate here 2 nights ago. Left a large tip and asked for the grill tonight for dinner. This place is pricey for Zermatt standards and small portions. U left hungry. I just went back because it is like Benehana Zermatt.. NOT !! I got stuck at a lousy table. No grill. Just ripped off again .?

“Good foor but ridiculously expensive”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

I really did enjoy the food here. The service was ok, nothing amazing. But the cost of the food was so outrageous that I feel it gets a low rating. The four in our party have eaten in some very expensive restaurants and do not hesitate to do so, nor do we complain about the cost, we know it will be expensive. But this place was just unbelievably expensive and did not have any of the charm, polish and attention to detail you would expect with such prices.
The staff were very ordinary in service. We did not have a table at the tepinyaki bar and it seemed that these tables were the only receiving attention, I am sure we did not pay any less!
