“Trek to christmas lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

We too walked from sunnegga and found it horrendous. As learners we found the ski down too steep so decided to walk and and it is treacherous and un marked. The way back was asker as we walked down to the chairlift. I would walk up that way.

Other than that the meal was amazing really lovely. The service was great. Fantastic place and the view is to die for

I would do it again but walk up from bottom or learn to ski better.

“Phenominal - but without skis or a sled, a bit of a nightmare!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 24, 2012

A 10 minute walk from the Sunegga station is what the website says. It took us 1.5 hours. The hiker trails were untreated and the piste extremely steep and Icey, almost impossible without spiked shoes. Signs are limited for walkers, we had to ask in three restaurants where chez vrony was and the all said " you want good food? Stay here". We decided as we planned to head for Chez Vrony we should head there. Waist deep untreated snow at times was a little concerning. Unsure of our footings we stuck tod the piste sliding down literally on all fours.

When we reached there I have to say staff were extremely friendly even though we were over 1.5 hours late. You have to book as this place gets busy.

Great outside bench with blankets good food, friendly
ServicE, reasonable prices. Well worth the effort. Could have slept there all afternoon.

“The best homemade cheese in Zermatt”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2012

In a village of eternal wooden chalets, Vrony's looks so Swiss it is almost a cliché. That's until you are inside. The interior is more London than Zurich, with modern furniture, vases filled with pine cones and old chandeliers. Food is traditional and tasty - the homemade cheese is amazing - and service is Swiss. We tried the ravioli filled with mountain cheeses, and the pan-fried foie gras, both were delicious. It is not cheap, but hey, you are in Zermatt after all.

“Top ski-in lunch place in Zermatt!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2012

Definitelly one of the best places for lunch on ski in Europe. All fits together, service, food, wine list, ambience, outdoor and indoor seating. We did not found anything better on the slope in Zermatt - and being really picky it means something! LAst time we had such a fun that we were sitting outside for 3 hours even in temperature getting below -20C... My wife still cannot forget :-)!

If you decide to improve your ski experience in Zermatt by this treat do not forget to book a table! In sunny days it is almost impossible to get an outside seating without it!
