Catch the funicular about a ten minute walk uphill from the Paradisio boat dock. The elevation is so high that you change to a second steeper funicular halfway up. The views at the top take in the entire lake and you can even see into Italy.

Great Views of lugano lakes from the top of the mountain. You need to take Funicular (cable car) from Lugano-Paradi. If you have swiss pass, there will be discount.

At nearly 1000 meters you'll overlook the city of Lugano and its twisted lake, and you'll reach the alps by a 360 degree view.
You can get there either on foot from Paradisio or by the funicular.
The restaurant at the top is quite good.

We decided to walk up. Having walked down a few mountains previously we enjoyed and actually found it easier to walk up. Once you find the path in the town at the bottom it snakes through the trees under cover revealing new and better views at many turns. It does keep going up but the 360 degree view at the top is well worth trip and the funicular down is a welcome reward. The Restaurant at the top is unusually good for a captive market and well worth stopping at for the food let alone the views.

Long funicular ride up to the top of the mountain. Views are amazing from the top - mountains, lakes, city, etc. etc. While we visited many beautiful spots over our week-long trip throughout Switzerland, the views from here were among the best.

We also had some gelato at the cafe at the top. You could have lunch there as well.
