“Overpriced, horrible food, decent rooms”
Reviewed January 18, 2010

Due to a delay, we arrived later than expected at 21:00 and wanted to eat something. We were told that the transfer bus would not go into town for at least half an hour, but that we could eat something in the hotel 'restaurant'. It turned out to be a cold, overcooked, horrible buffet. The worst food ever, but we were hungry and decided to put up with it while the kitchen staff was already putting on their jackets, and hung around nervously waiting until we had finished and they could go home. Not a good start.

Front desk staff was knowledgeable but not very proactive. We would have to ask several questions and really 'pull' to get the information we wanted.

Luckily, the room was fine - nothing special, but it was cleaned every time we left and they always put a little chocolate on our pillows which was a nice gesture.

As it is quite far from town, they have a transfer bus for which you have to pay a small amount (I think 5chf pp) It works fine, and is cheaper than a taxi. The only downside was that we had to say in advance, what time we wanted to be picked up. They also have a complimentary transfer to and from the station, which was nice.

All in all, I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It was not exactly horrible, but not worth the 160chf / night either. Maybe this hotel is nicer in Summer, when you can actually use the outdoor pool and walk to town etc. For a skiing weekend however, I would not go there again.

Randolins Hotel sits in one of the most beautiful locations near St-Moritz. However, being 2km away from town, you will need a vehicle to get around. On the other hand, the Corviglia ski lift is just 500m away and you can pretty much ski right back to the hotel.

The hotel is made up of several buidings. We were in the main one, where the reception is. The rooms are very small and basic, but clean and functional. The decoration is very old fashioned and I had trouble believing the rooms were recently renovated... The interior designer they used has not evolved since the 70's!

Also, while the breakfast buffet is excellent, the atmosphere is that of a retirement home cafeteria. If you are less than 35 you will definitely feel out of place!

The first day we were told we would sit at the same table each morning. This turned out not to be the case, and we were even once sat on a table of 4 next to people who were already halfway through their meal. This was despite many tables being free!

On the bright side, the hotel recently build a beautiful wellness center! It has two saunas, indoor and outdoor whirlpools and the whole thing with a view on some tuly amazing mountains!! It was heavenly to go here after skiing each day.

I have to say though, if I had to do the trip again, I would probably not stay here. Personally, I found the Silvaplana/Corvatsch area much nicer (for skiing too).

Wonderful position on Suvretta hill above St. Moritz. Nice rooms, new built wellness-oasis with incredible view on the valley. Decent food, quiet place. I've found again new power for my life!
