The hostel is a little bit far from Sankt Moritz-dorf, but if you don't have the car, the owner offers to the guests a little pullman for free for the trip from the railway station to this accomodation. Randolins is close to the cableway Randolins-Suvretta, so on winter is very convenient for to go skiing; the price for one bed in the dorm is a little expensive for italian standard, but the services are good. The staff is kind, so I would like to return here soon.

We stayed at the backpackers facilities of the hotel. Being as we came in summer there were few guests (this is a ski resort after all!) and so found it quiet. The hotel has a minibus which if you pre book the day before will meet you at the train station - complimentary. It is not 24hr service and has set times so if you want to use this you will need to be in before the last shuttle (about 6pm or so), otherwise you will need a taxi - it is not close to the station to consider walking with luggage (10min drive), and its all up hill (hence the view). Breakfast was included - muesli, bread, cheese, fruit, tea/coffee. We stayed here for an overnight stop between ending the Glacier Express trip and starting the Bernina Express - and for that it offered a pleasant valley view, a clean room at an affordable (for Switzerland) price with breakfast and transfers.

Room Tip: The on-line booking is a bit odd as you can only book one bed at a time not knowing if you will both...

Randolins is well outside St Moritz centre, but there is a good free shuttle from the station 6 returns a day, plus they meet you at the station on your arrival. This is one of the advantages of staying somewhere that is part backpackeres, part hotel, you get some of the perks of hotel guests at backpackers' prices, well Swiss backpackers prices are the same as 3 star hotel in other parts of Europe, of course.
Well I was met toi the minute at the appointed time at the station (well it is Switzerland) and was whisked up into the hills above St Moritz, the views just kept getting better and better. Reception was very friendly and efficient (Barbara), the room was a little battered, well it is backpackers, but being April there are few guests, so i had the 2 bed room to myself.
Most packere make money by cramming more people in 1 room, but at Randolins, backpackers are lget a sort of second class service to the other guests, but it is like on a train, the second class is OK, it serves it's purpose very well, and is a good price for Switzerland.
My first breakfast was in the main part of the hotel, and was excellent, choice of crispy Swiss breads, Muesli, warm eggs but watery coffee. It was very classy. The decor was dated, as mentioned before in other review, but only the chairs were unacceptable. Everything else was very attractive, the staff all efficient and friendly.
The bathroom and toilet were sort of school standard, but clean and tidy, no problem really.
The seconmd morning, there were more guests , as it ws Easter, and the breakfast was in the backpackers' section, it was more limited, no choice of bread, no croissants, eggs or muesli (mt favourite when io visit Switzerland). But it was superior to most breakfasts at 1 or 2 star hotels, and coffee was stronger and tastier
The view of the facing mountain in the morning , bathed in mists and capped with snow was phenomenal really, other guiests seem to spend 10 minutes taking photos.
There is a sort of kids' playground, and someone here mentioned an outdoor swimming pool, but i did not see it. Even in summer St Moritza seems to have a chilly feel to it, The room is heated in April.
There are some leisure facilities, but i did not use them, 1 man sauna cabins
Yes i it was acceptable, basic , a little old fashioned and instututionalised, but it was good for the price, basic but you are in Switzerland, and the franc is at an all time high against other currencies, particularly Streling , Euro and US dollar. You pays your moneyt .........

No doubt a well run place for all types of travellers. Good, clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation a short distance away from the main areas of St Moritz. Coming up from town is a nice walk in summer time. Great view over the alps from the dining room where there was a good choice of food available for breakfast. Would highly recommend.

Due to a delay, we arrived later than expected at 21:00 and wanted to eat something. We were told that the transfer bus would not go into town for at least half an hour, but that we could eat something in the hotel 'restaurant'. It turned out to be a cold, overcooked, horrible buffet. The worst food ever, but we were hungry and decided to put up with it while the kitchen staff was already putting on their jackets, and hung around nervously waiting until we had finished and they could go home. Not a good start.

Front desk staff was knowledgeable but not very proactive. We would have to ask several questions and really 'pull' to get the information we wanted.

Luckily, the room was fine - nothing special, but it was cleaned every time we left and they always put a little chocolate on our pillows which was a nice gesture.

As it is quite far from town, they have a transfer bus for which you have to pay a small amount (I think 5chf pp) It works fine, and is cheaper than a taxi. The only downside was that we had to say in advance, what time we wanted to be picked up. They also have a complimentary transfer to and from the station, which was nice.

All in all, I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It was not exactly horrible, but not worth the 160chf / night either. Maybe this hotel is nicer in Summer, when you can actually use the outdoor pool and walk to town etc. For a skiing weekend however, I would not go there again.
