“Charming Hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2012

Hidden away in the centre of St Moritz it was a perfect overnight stop before taking the Benina Express the next day. A quaint hotel nestling right up in the town amongst the big boys, the room was clean and a good breakfast the next morning. Both of the staff members that we met were excellent and were very keen to ensure we got the most out of our stay. The only thing that suprised me was the plastic pod bathroom, it did the job it was intended to do, but I am more used to seeing these at cheap French roadside hotels.

The family run Languard hotel is right in the middle of st Moritz tucked away in a hidden lane "smack bang" amongs the famous grand hotels but without their prices. Spectacular lake views from the delightful wood panelled breakfast room where a full buffet breaksfast is served, a traditional swiss decor - all wood--its a gem
The owners and staff, particulalry Sascha are friendly and bend over backwards to help in every way
There is no other hotel that is right next to grand 5star hotels of St Moritz ie so ideally placed in the middle of everything yet so well priced and cossey. Enjoy

The owners as well as the staff, specially Sascha Casutt were very friendly and usefull with their tips and knowhow of the region (they were born there) and always ready to help with a big smile!
The view is spectacular overlooking the lake and the Palace Hotel. There is no street noise since it is situated in a pedestrian area.
Definitively an excellent hotel with a familiar atmosphere, operated directly by the owners.

Hotel Languard is a very charming hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, although the pillows were very very soft. It is well located. The Hotel Manager, Sasha, was very friendly and helpful - most important in Switzerland.

Stayed at the Languard for just one night prior to a Glacier Express adventure. The hotel sits up on the hill overlooking the lake and next door to the huge Kulm Hotel. The first tip is to ignore any walking directions from Google. Instead from the station head towards and thru the ground level of the adjacent multi-story car park and you'll then find a series of escaltors up to the main street and next to Badrutts Palace Hotel. From there the remaining walk up the hill is not too bad.

The Languard is a smaller family run B&B property and the welcome was warm. It is a simple hotel and really a tad expensive for what it is, but as many others have said; St. Moritz is just one big shopping centre for the rich and the hotel prices reflect that, even in summer.

We stayed in a corner double room and it was a good size with a balcony overlooking the town below and the lake. The room was a little dated but it was functional. The TV was small and old but it did carry all the European cable channels.

Breakfast was downstairs in a room overlooking the lake. Just a simple buffet but it had everything and nothing seemed too much trouble for the hosts.

The Languard came recommended by friends and also by many on Trip Advisor. Really I expected more for the price, but then I keep being told it was in St.Moritz. But all that said there was nothing really lacking at the hotel but then there was nothing really to highlight other than perhaps the view and the warmth of the hosts. At the end of the day it was a pleasant spot to spend a night before or after the big train ride and I don't think anyone would really come away too disapointed, so worth a try I say.

Room Tip: If your budget runs to it then the larger corner rooms are a good size and they have a balcony.

The Languard was a complete surprise as the photos available on their web site do not do it justice. Its a lovely historic building, close to the centre of town, decorated in the traditional colors and patterns of the region.
We had a large corner suite with a french doors opening onto the verandah. It had outstanding views over all of St Moritz - even from the bed. It was nice to be able to get out on to the verandah and check the weather before dressing for the day. We even loved the sounds of the bells from the church close by which rang every day. A reflection on traditional Swiss life over the centuries.
While the Languard does not have a public restaurant, it does have a lovely breakfast room with large picture glass windows overlooking that great view. And the local speciality breads were amazing.
The Languard is more like a boutique hotel in style. Small and intimate and their friendly and energetic Manager was outstanding in meeting our needs.
The Languard is reasonably priced compared to a lot of accommodation in St Moritz and you will be surprised at what a truly unique St Moritz experience you will get for your money. We were.

We stayed here for two nights prior to taking the Glacier Express train to Zermatt. The hotel was very comfortable with very attentive staff. It felt like you were staying at a small inn instead of a hotel. Knotty pine room decor. The room was very spacious with windows facing the mountains and the lake. A nice breakfast buffet was served in a cozy eating area. We used the free WiFi. It was fast and did not disappoint. The hotel is on top of a hill so you walk down to the main shopping area of St. Moritz, so lace up your walking shoes. As part of a two or more nights at the hotel, we were presented with a tourist card for free public transportation and free rides up the funicular railway and gondola. A great view was had from Piz Nair which is about 3,000 m or 9,000 ft high. This card saved quite a bit of money as the ride up and back is quite expensive, as most attractions and restaurants in this town. A great hotel if you happen to be in St. Moritz.
