We' ve spent a weekend with friends. We had a great time thanks to the very friendly and helpful staff and the very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere. The rooms were spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. The spa services were great. The very special fragrance smelling everywhere in the hotel was also great and so lovely!!!!
If i had to mention something negative, that would be the size of the swimming pool.

Yes, the architects and interior designers did a great job building the Giardino Mountain. Yes, the facilities are, theoretically, good. But...

Let me start at the beginning. You have to drive out of St. Moritz to get to the Giardino. The only way to get anywhere is therefore to take your car or get a taxi. A nice touch was the welcome procedure: You get seated in the trendy-looking fireplace area and offered a free drink (alcohol-free) while the receptionist takes down your details. For instance, you're asked which newspaper you'd like to get in the morning. Great, as you'd expect for that price.

So then in the morning, throughout our three-day stay, there was never a trace of a newspaper. We had to help ourselves to the restaurant's copy every day.

Please know: The Giardino does not have a concierge. No concierge! If you need anything, you'll need to talk to reception, and you mostly get an "i don't care" attitude, "no" being their favorite word. No useful recommendations. No small little details that might make your trip unique.

The breakfast spread is quite nice. However, beware of the staff. You choose to sit in the cute little alcove right next to the buffet? "NO," is what you'll hear. They made us sit in another room around the corner, with no explanation other than that they will have to clean the tables for lunch and dinner again. They'd rather inconvenience their guests than their staff.

Then the spa. It's probably quite nice. So nice in fact, that during our whole 3-day stay, we could not get massages in, because apparently other people had booked it out. No place for four paying guests. We had to cause a major raucous and practically force the receptionist to book us into a spa at one of the other hotels in St. Moritz. In all fairness, the lady at reception ended up making it happen for us, so we received a nice little pampering at the Kempinski, along with the charge that's asked of external visitors.

What we know for sure is that we will never come back to the Giardino. It is a classic example of form over substance. The building and the facilities are impeccable, but the hotel experience is everything but five-star.

We have stayed 3 nights at this hotel and we did not expect to be that disappointed. The room was overheated to the extent of 40 degrees without being able to control the temperature. Despite the fact we have expressed our discomfort, nothing was done. We had to keep the balcony door and the bathroom window fully open overnight to avoid suffocating. We came out of there 3 days after not feeling too good, nose bleeding and more tired then when we arrived. After driving to this hotel on the Friday, we were offered to have dinner at the hotel and a reservation was done for us in a small room. We were expecting to have a feast since the restaurant of the hotel has good reputation. We finally discovered we were seating in a room which I believe is used to accommodate families with young kids or babies. Our expensive dinner was accompanied by the yelling and crying of 3 or 4 babies having their meal in that same small room, not too romantic even though we like children. Service was also ordinary, no bread offered when the plate was empty and no wine tasting before accepting. The hotel is supposed to be 5 stars and charges accordingly. Finally we are French speaking and nothing was done to welcome us properly, we believe an international hotel should be able to provide SMS, e-mails, welcome letters in English not always in German. This hotel is not that well located since you have to drive to St-Moritz or even Sils Maria to have something to see or do. It was a very expensive yet disappointing experience and more important no one has even reacted to our live comments on site before leaving or after our e-mail of yesterday. Thank God, we like the area, we have been to the Suvretta and Kempinski before with satisfaction, we will go back and we have already located other hotels.

We arrived at the hotel on a travel voucher we received after buying our car. At first sight, the hotel is not surprising but once you enter it wins you over. The staff was amazing, it was the best treatment we ever received in a 5* hotel. The bar and terrace are great, not unlike the breakfast. One important piece of advice: if you want to eat in one of the restaurants in the hotel (once there we realized they are some of the best in the area) book before ariving at the hotel.
