“I might be being a bit hard but this was not a great hotel experience”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2011

Ok - so I'm on a trip taking in some great hotels, but this hotel rates itself highly and has joined the small luxury hotels of the world club. Well I didn't really think of it as luxury. No air conditioning, but as someone said you can open the window. Well I did and from 7am the building site next door started and then at 730 the church or townhall bells went off - why? It was like a call to work siren in the old factories!

The bathroom was very nice, but my room had two connecting doors. I usually hate this - but I don't think anyone was next door in either (it was real off season here).

Some nice things - the mini bar was free - can't say I've seen that much before - great idea and I didn't abuse it either - and the tv had a decent set of english (and german and french) channels. With satilite nowadays that surely can't be that hard for other hotels to do.

My bed was comfy but the pillow was useless - which was quickly resolved by a call downstairs and a new pillow arrived.

So - this wasn't a bad hotel - but it is not really a 5 star hotel either. I would make sure that I got a room without connecting doors - perhaps that is because I booked through expedia - unless you want them!

I guess if I had stayed more than one short noight I might have got to see a better side of it, but compared to some of the other hotels on this trip7 this only deserved an average rating.

The Crystal Hotel is a business style hotel with good quality rooms, right in the main shopping area of St. Moritz. We booked a double room and were upgraded to a jr. suite upon arrival. The front desk attendant was friendly, professional and made us feel welcome. She showed us to our room and gave us a quick tour of the restaurant and spa area.

The room itself was very large, with a huge bathroom. The decor is traditional Swiss, with carved wooden beams and red patterned fabrics. They have a health club and spa area - we did visit the steam room, sauna and relaxation room which we enjoyed. Breakfast was a buffet of meats, cheeses breads, cereal, yogurts and fruit, as well as scrambled eggs. You do have to ask for tea and additional hot water as they do not have a tea station.

Lots of tour groups stay here and it's more business oriented so if you don't mind that, it's a great value for St. Moritz.

We has booked one night in this very centrally located hotel in St. Moritz. After the first night we decide to stay an other night given how good the hotel was. While it was not cheap (but then nothing is cheap in St.Moritz....), you feel that the hotel invested into quality. The superior room we had was big and had a nice view on the mountains. The furniture was high quality Swiss rustical style and the bed/mattress of very high quality. I would stay again there if I can get could rates.

This hotel is located in the heart of the shopping area. Nice room; we had a small suite to accommodate three people. Two beds and a pull-out, which was very comfortable. Really cool carved beams in the cieliing, and enough space to walk around without bumping into someone or something. Good food, nice staff. Free internet, which was a plus, although one member of our group said he couldn't connect his iPad from his room and had to go near the elevators to use it. I had an iPad but connected without problem from the room. Go to the top of the hotel and you can get good views of the town and the lake. Dinner served was OK, not outstanding, breakfast was adequate. Wait staff was pleasant.

As other reviewers have stated, right in the center of the SM Dorf. Lots of pedestrian only walking available to the many, many high end shops. Any high end clothing/ fashion mnfg has a storefront in StM. Prices are HIGH! Hotel staff was very helpful with getting our late arriving luggage from train station. Free pickup and only 5 min drive(uphill). Staff also helpful answering our questions about local stuff. I only speak English and that was not an issue from anyone on the staff. Breakfast was included and very large variety of items or you could custom order from menu. Visited the fitness center but not the in-house spa. Primarily a ski trip. Steps away from grocery store, ski rental, surface tram to take you up to another station and then to the skiable areas. Bus line has stop right in the central square right outside the hotel. Room a bit on the small side, but very comfortable. Rooms were well attended to by maid service x2 daily. Was there for FIS World Cup races (women - Go Lindsey Vonn!) and the nightly bib drawing was right around the corner - very nice.

Enjoyed a glorious week ski-ing in St. Moritz Switzerland.
Organized with Switzerland Travel Centre of London who were excellent. Stayed in the Hotel Crystal a 4 star plus, Which are members of the Small Luxury Hotels of the world.
Everything that is written in the brochures about the hotel was true and more.
It was excellent! From the friendly Receptionist "Especially Angela & Tabathia" to the maitre de Michael and Angelo also the waiters. All very professional and relaxed.

The location of the hotel is very convenient in St. Moritz Dorf (centre of town) and only 5 mins walk to the ski funicular lift.
The hotel is also located in the middle of High End Shops etc.

The restaurant offers superb cuisine of the highest standards with very generous portions given.
The beds are very comy and bathrooms beautifull. "Turn down" nightly service is very welcomed and also the Wellness Fitness facilities are fabulous for relaxing after a hard days ski-ing.
I also joined the St. moritz ski school for the last day and our ski instructor Suzi was also excellent.
