“A true 5-star experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

The Kulm Hotel St.Moritz provides you witha true 5-star hotel exprience. It starts with a very friendly welcome from the concierge team and a smooth check-in procedure. Our little boy (15month old) received a "Murmeltier" (plush toy) that he still enjoys today. Our room was spacious and connected to the one with our nanny. Such a set-up provides trouble free nights. The new Spa deserves a five stars rating - not to be compared of what the hotel offered previous to the renovation. There is a special pool for kids that has been designed with great care and attention to details. The Marmotta Club for kids had excellent staff members and was well equipped. The breakfast is rich of choices and again served by friendly staff.

When leaving the resort we were given a snack bag for the travel. This is a very small detail, but just proved again the hotels attention to details.

For us it was a true 5-Star experience and we will be happy to be back!

Kulm Hotel is a historical landmark in skiing holidaying. While providing luxurious accommodation for summer holidaying up on the mountains in St Moritz, they have pioneered for winter holiday travel in the earliest days.
The historical building is perched on the skirts of the village, on one of the main streets, with a commanding view of the valley and the lake below, with its back on the mountains. It has this atmosphere as if the time has stopped back on those early days. It is a beautiful sandstone building with high ceilings, with halls big enough to make it grand but small enough to make it private and homey; it is luxurious but not nouveau riche. It provides plenty of quite space for the visitors to enjoy the excellent service it provides. I loved its moving pictures that themselves were matching the history of the setting.
The hotel is located in one of the main streets of the village and you can walk everywhere. Still, there is a shuttle that operates between the hotel and the bottom-end of the funicular that takes you up the mountain in 3-5 minutes. Once up on the mountain, you can pick any of the many rides/slopes; fascinating slopes, skiing at its best.
You can hire your gear in the hotel and store them in the hotel overnight but I recommend you don’t do that. There is a hire shop right at the top of the funicular, at the beginning of the lifts. You can hire your gear right where the lifts start and store them overnight. This way, you don’t need to carry the gear to and from the hotel.
The hotel has a number of in-house restaurants in different halls, all with excellent food and most of them are formal (well, even though not black tie, pretty formal). It also has a Swiss chalet restaurant outside the hotel, a short walking distance serving traditional Swiss cuisine; it is very charming, very local and intensely warm in atmosphere.
Potential visitors need to keep in mind that this is a hotel with mostly older (60+) patronage; while we, at nearly 50, loved it immensely, I believe it would be a little too quiet and too heavy for the younger generation.

Room Tip: Room that overlooks the valley and the lake.

A top hotel. Tastes from the "old" world but adjusted to modern times. Expensive but highly reccommended.
Superb modern spa.
Dinner at the main restaurant is a weak point but the Italien restaurant, just outside the hotel, is a good choice( included in my deal).

Room Tip: Try to get a deal via the web.

We stayed in the sister hotel but I used the spa at Kulm and it was excellent. It was brand new, modern and delightful. The outdoor jet bed and pool were amazing. My massage was ok( I've had better) but beautiful view and all very relaxing.
The concierge organized a driver to take me back to my hotel. It was all very easy and enjoyable.

All expectations were exceeded, the rooms had a beautiful aspect of St Moritz. A small balcony provided the opportunity to enjoy the sunny afternoons while overlooking the lLake. The room was spacious comfortable and well considered in design. Built in robes provided ample storage space which allowed the room to remain open, bright and relaxing. The ski Concierge, Max, made every trip up the mountain an absolute pleasure, it seemed he couldn't do enough for us. Concierge Alexander and Concierge Andres were amazing. It's wonderful when you meet people who take pride in their job, no request was too much and nothing seemed impossible to organise. They truly added to the Hotel Kulm experience. What a magnificent place and we look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Lake side to catch the afternoon sun

The best thing about this hotel is the Spa. I would say that this sets it apart from the other hotels in the same category in St Moritz. The swimming pool is wonderful but i think the best thing is the outdoor Jacuzzi with a view of the mountains:-).The room that i had was not big but decent size. You have a pillow menu in your room so you can choose the one you prefer to sleep with. Lovely! The location is very good, internet is free and good and the reception lounge are is very old worldly and charming.
The breakfast was very fine, plenty of staff to make your experience the best.

We have been going to the Kulm for over 10 years now, most of the time over Christmas and New Year and recently also often in January.
It is a treat to return to the Kulm on every occasion.
Its position and location mean that it is at the higher end of the village with marvelous views of the Lake.
The accomodation remains in all respects some of the best which I have ever come across, whilst not making one feel one is in a palace or museum - whether it be defined in terms of the comfort of the beds, the decor and the layout of the rooms, the wardrobe capacity or the high quality of the bathrooms.
The kitchen continues to exceed itself and should you wish to alternate, there is plenty of choice during your stay, whether it be rustic Italian, Japanese, Chalet Swiss, High end Gourmet, or even the choice to take your half board at lunchtime at one of the mountain side restaurants.
In fact, I would dare to suggest that if you are fond of good food, there is no better ski resort in the world than St Moritz. If you doubt the veracity of this assertion, I dare you to come at the end of January for the Gourmet Festival!
As for day time pursuits, St Moritz isn't the cradle of winter sports for nothing.
For skiers, a shuttle bus will have you within 5 minutes at the bottom station of the Chantarella cog railway from which it is merely a 15 minute ride into the Corviglia ski region.
If dolce farniente is more up your street, then either proceed down to the Sunny Bar terrace or wander a little way outside the hotel grounds to the sun terrace at the Chesa al Parc where on a fine day, you can soak up the Engadine sun.
Should the weather disappoint, then a box full of temptation awaits you. As of 2012, the Kulm has just completely renovated its pool and spa area. Professional staff provide a wide range of treatments from the obligatory classic and sports massages attuned to sports enthusiasts to the cosmetic and frivolous treatments which only the mind can dream up!
On that count more generally, the staff are very approachable and willing more often than not to do the impossible. For the size of the establishment and with the occupancy rate the hotel captures at times, this can only be applauded in the profoundest way possible and for this the management needs by definition to be extended the most profound congratulations for instilling the degree of harmony amongst the staff which there is.
