The hotel is on a steep hill, surrounded by, a road, roundabout and car park. It is not a quiet area, in the summer it can be noisy at night with the windows open ( no air con).
The rooms are plainly furnished, with a bath and over bath shower. Soap and shampoo are in dispensers. Our room was clean, reasonably comfortable beds, the hotel quiet at night.
Breakfast, fresh but limited. This is served in the restaurant, which reminded me of fast food cafes in supermarkets. We were there two nights. My main feeling about this hotel was of being an inconvenience. The staff were polite, but only one person smiled and actually looked like she enjoyed looking after guests, this was an older lady at breakfast. The restaurant is ok but felt squashed and hurried, we ate in the first night, but found a more convivial place the second.
On the plus side you get unlimited wifi, the room was large with a bath.

Room Tip: Some have a balcony.

One night here, pick up and drop off were great especially when your bearings take a while to adjust in new locations. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast, great location, interesting little hub around the coffee shop chocolate shop run by the hotel, added interest. Room had a pleasant view over the coffee shop courtyard. Decor in the room was a bit tired. Would certainly stay again

Room Tip: View within city and over lower areas and courtyard available if you ask?

While it's not a big deal it was kinda cool to be picked up and dropped off - free of charge. The walk isn't far but it's up hill and if you walk along the foreshore there's even an escalator you can use.

Hotel is terrific, comfy, free wifi and quiet. Can't change the room temperature though :(, was quite warm and stuffy.

Lifts are TINY, so if you have a pack then fitting two into the lifts is impossible. Oh ... if there's a tour group just arrived, do yourself a favour and use the stairs. Good for fitness anyway.

We stayed in St Moritz for one night - mostly using it as a starting point for catching the Glacier Express. We found the town itself quite subdued - it did not seem to have much of a summer crowd, possibly more of a winter only spot.

The hotel is right on the edge of the pedestrian shopping district - more suited for window shopping than purchasing unless you have unlimited funds! It is walking distance from the station if you don't have heavy luggage (it is not far, but it is up hill all the way). We arrived at lunchtime so found the in house restaurant to be very handy. In fact, as it turned out, we had all our meals in St Mortiz at the hotel, having failed to find a better option for dinner.

Rooms are basic, with 'alpine style' furnishings, but comfortable enough (although there was only 1, very soft, pillow). Bathroom was modern and clean, with a spacious shower, and alarmingly good lighting. (Note, my father's room had a shower over bath.)

Hotel provides free, no fuss wifi that works everywhere on the premises.

The breakfast was excellent - lovely bircher muesli and fresh fruit salad. Yum.

TIP: The hotel across the road has a nice, cosy little bar - worth a visit for a pre dinner drink.

We stayed in Hauser’s studio apartment for 3 nights in July (Friday-Monday) as part of a 17 night trip through Italy and Switzerland (In addition to their hotel the Hauser has 2 apartments to rent.) We chose this primarily because of price and location. Hotels are so expensive in St. Moritz, and we thought it would be nice to have a kitchenette. Of all the hotels we stayed in on our trip this is the only one I would not return to. It’s not that it was bad, but it was really basic and weekend nights it was very loud with people partying outside until 2 or 3 AM. It was not so loud after 11 on Sunday night. There is no AC so you have to keep the windows open or it gets very hot. There is a bar across the street with live music and it got really loud with people yelling. It has a Murphy bed, table and chairs, and one other chair. It would have been nice to have 2 comfortable chairs. We did use the refrigerator but nothing else in the kitchenette.
Aside from the noise, the location was good. It’s right in the middle of the town so it is convenient to everything. Our other option was going to be the Piz in St. Moritz Bad, and we may have liked that better, but it is a walk to get into St Moritz Dorf or you could take a bus, which runs pretty frequently.
The Hauser staff were nice enough, but I had to go back and ask after checking in for our pass that let us on the cable cars, busses, etc for free. They should have given these passes to us when we checked in without us having to ask. If we hadn’t known about it we would have spent over 200 CHF on cable cars, etc. I suggest that if you go to St. Moritz, stay 2 nights or more and look for this promotion that includes free local transport. It saved us a bundle.
St. Moritz is extremely expensive, but it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I would return in a heartbeat. I think staying in town the first time is good, but next time I would stay in one of the little towns on the bus route, like Pontresina, or Celerina, or Sils, somewhere quieter and then take the bus into town.

Dear nottnott ,
many thanks for your review. This helps us to get better. The Westend appartements look on to two bars, this is right and they can be noisy. But the appartements have the best view one can imagine. We offer to everybody that stays two nights immediately the tickets for public transport and the montain railways. Sorry that we have not done this with you straight away. There was no intention. A/C is not a standard at all in the mountains on 1800 m sealevel. We will never install A/C. Too much energy spillage.
Glad you liked the place and you have the intention to return. Come back and stay at the Hauser Hotel. No kitchenette but : the HAUSER. Best regards Markus Hauser, Owner

This place is great. Family run and very friendly. The rooms are a little small and the elevator is tiny. Only room for one person with minimal luggage.

The hot plate dinner is good and lots of fun. Try the horse and kangaroo. They also have an after dinner drink made with herbs and roots.
