This is not a place for the budget conscious. If you are saving up to stay here, I suggest a treatment at the spa and you will have experienced it enough.

Then again, when will you have breakfast whilst listening to a harp and watching snow fall over a frozen lake in the swiss alps? Or swim in a hot pool surrounded by snow? Or have an outdoor ice rink to yourself with the most spectacular view for as long as you please? Well nothing's for free and when I put it this way I suppose it was worth it! Even watching over-botoxed ladies try to chat up waiters adds to the value!

My only jibe is that they don't allow a third person to sleep in a room. This is just ridiculous. Families/groups do not always come in even numbers!

St Mortiz itself is nothing to write home about.

Live and let live when it comes to reviews and you have to admit we all have a bad day at some time, but my GREAT day started as soon as I got off the train.

I echo the other reviews in that the transfer was seamless. I had two wonderfully attired concierge chaps (cheerful and pleasant and not arrogant at all - I always think a please and thank-you works both ways) meet me as soon as I got off the train. I was travelling with 10 fellow colleagues and our luggage was loaded up into two MPV's. A 5 min drive later up the hill and we were there at the beautifully positioned hotel complete with Xmas Tree and its baubles and snow. My luggage disappeared with concierge and to my utter amazement turned up in my room. Amazing fact was, It didn’t even have my name on it and it had to all accounts and purposes arrived together with 10 other cases, so I was truly impressed with their service.

The rooms were beautifully turned out (the little touches of a hot water bottle in the turndown service was very nice) - I was taken through the check-in procedure in my room. How amazing is that! They don’t have irons in the room (hotel policy so you have to ask to get it pressed which is an additional fee) I asked to see a few other rooms for future reference and I found all of them to be of a good size and all well turned out. The beds are to die for.

The food was superb with attentive service. Again, courtesy always repays courtesy and the chefs welcomed feedback.
The hotel is wonderfully positioned for a trip up to the ski slopes (10mins) or an after dinner walk around the shops to browse the window displays.

The staff were warm and friendly and knowledgeable. For those of you with a little more après ski energy they have a wonderful disco/Club on site so you don’t even have to take a coat! The DJ played all the best tunes and the bar service was prompt.

The spa will take your breath away - a wonderfully heated indoor pool leading to a smaller heated outdoor pool by means of a through flow "door" that at the touch of a button opens up to the outside cool elements and you can pretend the mountain view presented in front of you as you splash around in the infinity pool is just for you.
With a jacuzzi, a waterfall and several spa treatment rooms (aroma, mist, rain, sauna) you'll be hard pushed to not find one you'll like. And for the more adventurous there is an outdoor skating rink for the die hards - although if you're a little heady from the spa like I was, I asked for full knee protection and the wonderfully cheery Spa lassie skipped off and came back with loan of full knee pads (now that was service beyond the call of duty) so I was kitted up to take on an ice hockey team should I have stumbled on them out there practicing. And yes they even had a penguin and polar bear you could hang onto like stabilizers if you really couldn't skate at all , like me - they became my best friends out there!

All in all - a thoroughly enjoyable stay. I was very sad to have to leave this little pocket of heaven in the snow clouds.

Room Tip: Brilliant views overlooking the lake. The higher you go the more you see obviously, although colleag...

Last month I had the privialge to stay at Badrutt's Palace in St Moritz. I have to say that it was a privilage as there wasn't a thing I could fault with the room, the service, the friendliness of the staff, the food or anything else you can imagine. We were a group of 10 high-maintenance girls and we could not find a fault with anyhting. I would recommend and stay at this place everytime I go to St Moritz. Our host Kathrin who looked after our group, deseves a special mention as without her, our trip would not have been the same.

Yep, you got it right. Your dream, whatever it is, became true. They pick you up at the station (a great start to begin with, since the train to St Moritz is incredible per se) with a warm smile, and 5 minutes after that you are in the hotel reception. I am not sure about what happened, but my luggage misteriously disappeared in the train station and was duly placed in my room when I got there. The hotel has an amazing breakfast (until 11 am - really good for a cold morning after a partying night) facing the snowy Alps and is located in a 10 min walking distance from any good restaurant. Ok, the city is small, but I could not omit this feeling of great location. And I please save one non-skiing day for their spa and indoor and outdoor pools. The spa is as relaxing as it can be, with different steam therapies and showers and massages. And the pools are incredible! Silent, sorrounded by the mountains, warm and with discrete and efficient staff. Take your time, but at the end of the day, take a picture - otherwise you won't be able to prove it wasn't a dream. If I may add a small suggestion, try the concierge during the weekends. The city is not particularly fertile in options, but the week day concierge was a bit disappointing even for a simple "first orientation guidance and nice restaurant nearby". When Friday came, though, the person there changed - and the quality of the service improved significantly.

stayed for a week in late december at a huge room rate, but okay.this is st moritz. unfortunately class defines nowadays by money not by education so be aware ... russian phonies and yelling new yorkers, call girls and wannabees.
guess nothing different from beverly hills or marbella but the real nice thing is the winter outside, the breathtaking views and the fact that you are in an historic place that used to be the refuge of european aristocrats and asian moguls....
all that is gone, but just indulge. the rooms were clean and the staff not so arrogant as people describe them on ths site. treat the bad so they treat you well !!!
especially in switzerland and france:)
rooms too small, yes indeed, and food nothing special.
better go into the adjacent doerfli(villages) and eat where the locals eat. learn a bit of german, and try hot polenta with hirschmedallions (deer) or hasenbraten or anything but us food !!!
dont even ask for a burger king and there is no need to buy bulgari or cartier in moritz because in miami or manhattan it even is cheaper. and remember ! no tax free in switzerland !!!
get a capuccino and disappear on a terrace outside, preferable in a mink coat and just dream of a nice era.
get a copy of dostojevski s the player and dream
gorgeous city with an average but former fantastic hotel
not worth the money but who cares

Room Tip: top floor , suite or at least lake view !

Nothing special. Normally great service, but during xmas and new year even the doormen are thinking it is cool to be as arrogant possible, and start treating bad the clients. Overal an ok hotel, to avoid in xmas although socially interesting.

I guess expectations are also linked to the price paid. With top price in high season, expectations are also for first class luxury service and amenities. Hotel is very good but rooms are quite small and service not always anything more than average.Food was good but prices were for extraordinary food, which it was not.

Also in st Moritz is difficult to go to the slopes from the hotels. I guess this is the problem with all of the hotels, but still it is part of what the service of a resort withthis prices should be. Other french and swiss resorts are much better in that.

Social scene though is good, and that is what most people pay for ... not the service or luxury really
